Help on the dyno

So I searched but I couldn't find what I was looking for. I could have swore that there was a thread posted on the proper way to run a dyno. But I can't find it. I don't remember which sub forum it was in. Basically I'm going to do a baseline dyno of my car tomorrow. Completely stock plus DCI and muffler delete. Anyways, I could have swore there was a thread on here instructing how to properly run the dyno. Where to hook up at, what gear to do the run in, etc. etc. I'm pretty sure I'm supposed to run in 4th. (6MT) but what rpm do I shift at prior to getting up to 4th? Or does it matter? This is my first time running a dyno ever. Does anyone know where the "how to dyno your car" thread is located? Or can anyone instruct me how to do it properly? After I get my baseline I'll be installing my recently purchased Cobb AP V3 and then I'll be going back to the dyno to do another run.

Shouldn't the dyno operator/workshop be able to tell you these things? In Australia the dyno operator would be in charge of strapping the car down and conducting the run.
I believe the best gear would be the one closest to 1:1 ratio.

Do the pull in 4th gear.

The dyno operator should know how to do all the things you are asking.

I've heard horror stories about hooking up to the dyno wrong and bending control arms, etc. I was just trying to get some insight so I could make sure nothing was being done wrong. I know there's a "how to" on here somewhere, but I can't find it.

Ah..... it was on N54tech...... I could have swore it was on here. That's the thread I was searching for. Thank you so much chili36. That explains why I couldn't find it on here.
