Will catless downpipes change my exhaust note that much?
Hey guys,
I have an RPI full downpipe back exhaust on my car right now and I love the way it sounds. I purchased the n54tuning catless downpipes a while back, but I've been hesitant to put them on in fear of ruining the way my car sounds now. Everyone says different things. Some say it won't change the exhaust note much and will just make it louder, some say it will ruin the clean sound of the RPI exhaust and make the car drone like crazy. It's my daily driver and I'm ok with it being louder. I just don't want it to completely change the way my exhaust sounds now. If that makes sense? Let me know please! Thanks |

From my experience, slightly louder drone (stuff towels in the rear center storage to get rid of the rattlings from that sliding cover) and a slight rasp at full throttle. You also feel a bit more vibration at idle if AC is on. Not that bad in my opinion for a DD, but just don't leave the engine idling somewhere where there is very little ventilation

Haha it's not that bad. The RPI cans in the rear keep it pretty clean sounding and I only get the rattle from the rear center counsel a little.
I figure the power gains are worth the extra drone and rasp so I'll go ahead and put them on. Hopefully it still sounds similar! So far in mods I have: Jb4 DCIs HPF intercooler RPI catless exhaust N54tuning 3" Catless DPs What do you think I'm looking at horespower wise? Maybe 360ish wheel? I need to get this thing on a dyno soon. |
