E93 Water Ingress Help

Only had my car for 4 months and from pretty much day one there has been a leak from around where the drivers side rear window meets the roof (just started on the other side too). My car has just gone into BMW under the AUC for a water pump and they have advised me that AUC does not cover water ingress?
I also get water in the passenger side storage tray in the boot, I dried this out the other day and it hasn't come back but we haven't had much rain before they took the car in.

Any advice what to do? Do I get in touch with the dealer I bought the car from? Only problem is they are in Nottingham and I am in Manchester.
They said water ingress is hard to locate and can be expensive, do I take it to an Indy instead? There's a very good one that's local.

I don't think the rubber seals are covered by the AUC warranty, but you say it's been a problem from near day 1 of owning the car, have you been letting the dealer know about the problem since then?? If you have I'd say it would make your case a bit stronger and I'd say they should be replacing the seals FOC

for the seals around the window, it may be that the rubbers need lubricating. I know nothing of the e93 but on the vw eos that rubbers would get trapped and deformed when the roof went up. http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthrea...Eos-Roof-leaks The solution was to use something like carboflo over the rubbers.

Another product is Dupont Krytox http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3710420333...84.m1439.l2649

perhaps it's worth a try

I gummi pfleged them about a month ago and it has eased the problem a little but we also haven't been having as much rain.

I will try and clean them all again and treat them and see if I can cure it.

I have just been lazy and not informed the dealer because it wasn't a massive leak. They will probably claim that it wasn't there originally now

I have an E89 Z4 which leaked on day 3 of ownership. I did ring the dealer but poking around with the seals and putting the roof up and down a couple of times seemed to cure it ... I hope ! See if the drain channel bit of the rubber is lined up - mine wasn't quite and now is + doesn't leak.

It seems BMW roofs leak in this area if they are going to at all. Mine leaked where the driver side A post meets the roof which is where the drain channel in the rubber needs to meet up ok. The nearside has obviously leaked too as there is a stain on the plastic door trim - though the n/s has been ok with me so far.

Talk to your local dealer and ask them to perform a water leak test, if its not covered under AUC Warranty then they will advise you to contact the dealer you bought the car from. I had issues with mismatched paint when i bought my car so it was picked up and taken back to the dealer which was 200 miles away to be repainted.

I know the boot seals are not covered on an E93, not sure about the window seals ...

I had the same thing happening with mine in the exact same place on the front driver side window after I bought it 18 months ago.

Took it to my local dealer, was told it was the seals and that they weren't covered by my warranty. Was charged 500 quid for new ones.

A couple of months ago I noticed it was leaking in exactly the same place.. took it back to the dealer a few weeks ago and surprisingly this time, when the new seals were still under guarantee, it was a simple case of adjusting the electric window mechanism to secure a tighter fit at the top of the window. No charge and no leak now.

The cynic in me is highly suspiciously as to whether the seals ever actually needed replacing in the first place.
