What to use to stick down shark fin aerial?

Hi all,

I'm replacing my shark fin antenna (GPS) & what should I use to re-stick it?

So one kind of double sided tape, what which one?

Any ideas?

Cheers

Use silicon and make sure you seal the whole way round, very common problem is they leak so make sure you get a good seal.
Tape will Definatly leak.

3M tape. Get fairly wide stuff so you can cover the whole fin. Don't get anything too thick though because you want a nice tight fit so water won't ingress.
You can silicone around the edge if you so wish, it'll probably look shit though. Silicone is not a good adhesive.

Alternatively you can buy the tape BMW use. It's pricey but you could stick two planets together with it.

It's currently held on by tape.

This is the problem - getting the right thickness! I might try to find the tape BMW use.... anyone got the part number?

I got some 3M tape off ebay. Mine's been down for 18 months now, and it even has a gap where the roof is dented (my original got nicked with a screwdriver).

Tape was similar to this. It'll sit down on that very well. Make sure you wash and prime the area well beforehand. Give it some heat after to set the glue in the tape and you should be good.
