3 BMW's and a family of deer!!

I'll post a nice picture of the street we were all on a bit later.

Heres the story, just a few mins ago I was driving home from work with a 330ci on my left and a 330i to my right....all of us minding our business. Im the type of driver that pays attention to the WHOLE road, including the other side. So about 1/4 of a mile ahead i noticed deer!! and all the cars on the other side stopped! So i immediatley began slowing down and stopped, the 330ci to my left was about 2 cars lengths ahead of me when he stopped.

But the 330i to my right (a girl, and probably on her phone), didnt see the deer crossing the road in time and didnt even stop. She came SOOO close to hitting those deer, i've never seen anything like it. If she was in the same spot about a second earlier she would have hit it, and the other deer that was behind it. How stupid can you be not to notice 7 lanes of traffic in both directions stopped!!!!?? WTF, what an idiot. Why would 7 lanes of cars be randomly stopped in the middle of the road! AND THE DEER WERE ALREADY ON THE ROAD WHEN SHE WAS APPROACHING THEM. Geez, talk about careless drivers, or not paying attention....yikes.

She was deffinately shaken up becuase AFTER she passed them and almost hit them, she came to a stop and probably regained her comporsure and took a moment to realize what just happened. Sitting there and watching her almost hit the deers was nuts! I was parked and looked into my rear view mirror and noticed she was still coming up pretty fast, and then i releazed "oh shit shes gonna hit them!!"

Deffinately a bit of excitement on an otherwise boring day.

I've hit a deer before, very unnerving experience. Creamed one on a country road at night. If it had jumped up just a little bit before I hit it, or I had arrived a half second later than I did, it would have rolled over the hood and through the windshield which means I probably wouldn't be here at all. I was kind of lucky.

Needless to say, I don't have a lot of sympathy when people get upset about deer hunting (either public or by wildlife officials).

It was at night when I hit it at about 45mph, It amazing how much energy is in a moving car, and how much mass even smaller deer can have (the one I hit wasn't fully grown). So, after 16 thousand dollars of damage, the loss of my deductible, and one relatively sleepless night I still get a little uneasy driving at night on country roads, although deer can pretty much show up anywhere..

I still drive like a grandma if it's nighttime and either the late fall or late winter (I think that's when they are mating so they are much more aggressive and do stupid things like try to cross 6 lane roads to get some lovin). It's been over a year and I still watch the side of the road constantly.

So be careful out there !

Hmm was anyones hazards on while you guys were stopped? Hazard lights prevented me from hitting a car. If it was night time and your driving in your own lane and see cars brake lights going on you might think they are slowing down so you just relieve your foot from the gas pedal and slow down. This is what I did until the person in front of me turned on their hazards which makes it much easier to understand the situation.

fuck man. hazards saved my car tonight. im driving on the highway, doing 180km/h and theres a subaru imprezza infront of me. now, we arent racing or anything, we are just driving at a normal speed, considering the time it was (4am). there was an Audi a4 behind me along with a toyota carolla.

anyways, im about 7 car lengths behind the subaru. out of no where he slammed his brakes. but i didnt see it because i was looking at my guages. i noticed blinking lights in front of me, and thankfully he put his hazards on.
i had just enough time and space to swurve my car to the right and stop, barely missing him by literally 1mm. the cars behind me however didnt seem like they were slowing down. i put my hazards on, and the Audi fucking swurved/drifted from the far right lane, and stopped three lanes to the left. now its 3 cars covering all lanes, blinkers on.

the other cars behind stopped just in time. looking over my hood, i see literally at least 15 dogs, massive dogs. just standing in the highway. so we all get out of our cars and basically laugh at the situation, passed some beers around (i didnt drink, my passengers did) to the other drivers and their passengers, got back in our cars, and all started honking.

it was fucking hilarious, but on a serious note, i would have ass rammed that subaru if he didnt put on his blinkers.

well. im off. gonna go get those damn doubles.
