ContiSport Contact 2 SSR runflat for ZSP

My sucky Bridgestone 050As are worn out at 21000 miles. I saw on TireRack that Contintental now makes an RFT in Sport Pkg sizes. Anybody try these yet? I like having runflats, but the Bridgestones rode like crap and were noisy as hell. I'm hoping the Contis are better than that.

Are they the SSR runflats, or regular SportContact 2s?

My car come standard with Bridgestone RE050 RFT. But before I drove it out from the dealer, I traded the wheels with the 323coupe wheel which is Continental Sport Contact2 SSR(Run flat in Conti world).

At the same time I bought a used wheels from ebay which come with Pirelli Eufori (Run flat) too. Comparing both, I found that the Pirelli is noisier than Continental. It was may be due to Pirelli Eufori was the earlier generation of Run Flat. Given they are all Run Flats, in my opinion they all noisy and uncomfortable.

Both Conti and Pirelli runs on 17 inch alloy using 225/45. I heard that if you down grade to the 16, will improve the ride comfort slightly.

I have the Contis on my E90 325i and I think they're very good. Come replacement time I bought them again. Treadwear rating is almost double the Bridgestones and Pirellis too.

Nice to know. How's the ride? With the Potenza's, my water bottle popped out of the cup holder when I went over a bump. Scared my the first time....I said WTF was that!

I ordered the front Contis today. The back ones are on backorder. They don't expect the back ones until the end of the month. I'll let you know how I like them.

Personally, I think the ride's brilliant. Firm, but that's the way I like it. I only have standard suspension and 17" wheels, though (although I think the UK's standard suspension is roughly as stiff as your sports setup).

contisport contact2 SSR

I just put the Sportcontact 2 SSR on last week. Put on 400miles so far. Replaced Bridgestone RE050AII. The Bridgestones lasted 20K before feathering. The Conti's are much quieter, ride better, and but handle about the same as the Bridgestones. Will send future reports if things change for the good or the bad.

Just to give you guys an idea of the lifespan of these Contis, my front tyres are still going strong at 26000 miles with plenty of tread left. My heavy right foot meant that my rear tyres needed to be changed at 16000 miles.
