yesterday me and friends were chillin and saw on tv a person bring half a $10 bill into two banks and getting two $10 bills. i know this is old but for some odd reason, we decided to try it.

so we took a pair of scissors and made a cut through what we thought was about half way. so i went to one bank friend into another and what was the end result? we both got x2 $10 bills....

the banker said," as long as you have about 50% or more of the bill you will get paid the full value."

makes me think...

You are supposed to need both serial numbers (or at least most of both) to prevent exactly this.

I call - Edit - Secret Service : (it's illegal to cut up money)

was treasury department...all they would do is call Secret Service who enforces counterfitting for sure, and this would probably fall under their pervue.

Ya, I dunno but I have a feeling your luck would run out if you continued doing this sort of scam.

If you get caught and they question why you have so many cut up dollars, there will be some explaining to do.

very true on the scam part. i don't plan on doing it for a way to make money. i wonder why the "myth buster" people couldn't get their money back.

the banker didn't mention anything about serial number besides the 50% or more part.

if you did this with your friend on same day, same company bank or even any bank that's in the same area.
i wouldn't try it again. be careful and don't get caught.

yea im not doing it again. we went to two different banks, me hsbc and other bank of america lol.

since we made a $10 profit, we just went to wendys and hit up the dollar menu

Or the bank employees don't know how to tell if you have more than half the bill.
