New Law in Texas..
Homeowners can now shoot intruders on sight without fear of being prosecuted.
If a thief/robber enters your house, you can legally shoot them. Same goes for your vehicle, or office. Google for links.. Don't feel like looking for any.. Discuss. -Nathan

We have that here in Colorado, as far as the house goes. Its the "Make My Day Law". Suffice to say, break-ins and robberies are down around the state, I wonder why? lol

I think it was inside your house during the day, anywhere on your property at night in Texas. Not sure what's new in this law.

I think this law should be applied to every city in the world
why should I be get prosecuted for defending myself in my home?? the guy is trying to harm me, kill me, rob me... I dont know his intentions and I don't care for them..

Yeah, you could always shoot someone who entered your home, but the problem was you had to prove you took every available means to remove yourself and family from harms way, ie your back was to the wall and there was no other option available to you. If you could not prove this, and shoot someone, and they lived they ended up suing you or if they died their family wanted you put in jail.
So these new laws, do not required any of the above, you can shoot someone and you do not have to justify it especially if they entered your home, now if you shoot them outside like an incident in Florida, as long as you can show your life was threaten you can shoot them to remove the threat. I am so glad they have turned this around and put criminals on notice that they can be shot and killed for entering someone home. Last edited by Maestro; 11-05-2007 at 06:17 PM.. |

The law has always been that you should try and get out of your house, or flee.
If you did shoot them or harm them, they could press charges, sue you, and etc.. I think it came into effect on Sept. 1st, just heard about it. Quote:
