Donations needed!! Please read

Hello all, I kindly ask everyone who has the possibility to make a donation to please contribute. This young woman deserves all the help we can give her. She woke up from her coma and is fighting to recover! On June 10, 2014, at around 8:30 p.m., Anaeis Issakhani and her cousin, Karine, were struck by a car while crossing the street in Sun Valley, CA. As a result of the impact, Anaeis hit the front windshield and then was thrown back onto the pavement, landing on the right side of her head. Both Anaeis and Karine were immediately rushed to the Holy Mission Trauma Center for treatment. Karine suffered a broken knee and fractured shoulder, and Anaeis sustained traumatic brain injury, including a fractured skull. It was around 1 AM when the neurosurgeon informed my family and I about the severity of Anaeis’ head injury. She required immediate surgery because there was pressure building up in her head. After 6 hours of surgery and massive blood loss, we were told that they had performed a craniectomy and removed Anaeis’ right skull to allow her brain to swell. During the next couple of days, the doctors advised us that Anaeis had a very slim chance of survival, and even if she did survive, she would most probably be in a vegetative state for the rest of her life. They told us to decide whether to keep her on life support or withdraw further treatment. As you can imagine, no parent, not even a sibling, would want to be placed in a situation like this one. Based on the advice of an outside neurosurgeon, we instead decided to induce her into a deeper coma and just wait. Personally, I wanted Anaeis to be around for a little while longer and wasn’t ready to say goodbye. Towards the end of June, and despite being told that she had injured her brainstem and would not wake up, Anaeis showed us the very first sign of life - she gagged. Although she was in a coma, this proved to us that she was responding to stimuli. Eventually, Anaeis' condition stabilized and she was transferred to a Kaiser hospital. Anaeis slowly began showing more reflexes on her hands and feet. She started opening her eyes and eventually came out of her coma. It is truly a miracle that she is alive. It has been two months now since the accident, and Anaeis has undergone multiple surgeries and procedures, including several brain surgeries. Nevertheless, Anaeis is starting to get back to her old self. Although Anaeis cannot move the left side of her body due to the severe injuries she sustained on the right side of her brain, she is working very hard to recover and go home. Anaeis is a very talented hair stylist and is devastated that she cannot move her left hand. Her work is everything to her and at 25 years old, Anaeis still has her whole life ahead of her. Anaeis faces a long road to recovery and requires extensive rehabilitation, including physical therapy and speech therapy. We would like to provide the best possible treatment for her. Any donation amount will help support Anaeis' recovery, pay for her medical expenses and for her cost of living. Your donations and prayers are truly appreciated. |
