There must be something wrong with the DAB tuner in the car as an £80 DAB radio in the garage picks up loads of stations - just a pity the £40k DAB tuner doesnt work!
Ive just read the manual, but no mention of a reset procedure so looks like a trip to the dealer to reset it...

just bought a DAB tuner off ebay and had the HU coded for DAB, and all is good with the magnetic mount DAB aerial from dabonwheels.
Did anyone ever buy and fit the OEM aerial amplifier that goes in the roof lining and splits out FM and DAB signals? I'm keen to try it, the cost from BMW for the part is c£120 , #65206928935 or 65209187647 http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...39&hg=65&fg=30 hope someone can help? |

Do you mind me asking how much you paid? I am assuming about £250 for the DAB unit and £40-80 to have it programmed in.
I'm using a Clarion DAB. I keep it connected in the centre console beside the aux-in and have a magnetic aerial in the boot. I have got it stuck upside down to the bodywork and find that this works almost as well as having it stuck on the outside of the boot. I'm a bit worried about it damaging my paintwork and my work colleagues accuse me of running a taxi service!!!! F*ckers Would love to have a fully factory fitted unit but was quoted £900 to have it fitted. |

yeah the unit was £250, i suspect it could be much cheaper but there's only one person selling them on ebay at the moment
it didnt cost me anything for the coding because i had it done at the same time as getting my dension 500 coding, but you're in the right ball park if you had it done on its own |

I'm kicking myself as i could have had DAB coding added when I had my ipod kit fitted. Grrh! What do you make of the Dension 500? Do you use it for Bluetooth and USB?

i only use it for ipod and USB , I already have OEM bluetooth fitted
it's great so far, does the job nicely. the only thing i've not worked out is to how to go back a layer when navigating directories, I seem to have to go back to the root and re-pick the artist to get to the albums.. probably just a case of not reading the instructions fitted it myself, relatively simple and coding is only around £75 with an indepedent |

Can you confirm that there is just one connector that plugs into the DAB tuner and this has got both the power and the fibre optic. This is the only spare cable that I can see in my boot. It's presumably for the CD changer.
Did you have to do anything else with the fibre optics to enable them (apart from recoding) My car was built in July 2007 so may be different to yours. |

yes there is one connector that incorporates both fibre optics and the power all in one
obviously there is the aerial connector too in my car the optics in the spare cable to the CD changer position were not wired into the loop - because there was no CD changer. because of this i had to access the MOST distribution block to shift them onto the loop. the process for this itself is easy, but gaining access is the hard part for my car - 06 330d - i had to remove the back seat (both bottom and then back) in order to access the distribution block. i did this using various instructions from this site. any problems give me a shout |

the one mentioned by an earlier poster in this thread from dabonwheels - magnetik 1002 or something.. £27 . it has the correct connector for the dab unit
hardest bit by far is getting at the MOST distribution block, the rest is easy |

by the way.. dab (on the non idrive at least, thats what i have) with the OEM unit is not 100% perfect:-
couple of things to be aware of.. 1. the tuning works based on particular frequencies that broadcast multiple stations. in my area there is about 5 different frequencies to pick up each with about 5-10 stations. to flip between these groups you have to use the tuning buttons so at any one time you only have 'quick' access to one group. however you can assign stations to memory presets as with FM, even if they span multiple groups 2. you've got a max of 12 presets plus 6 autostore ones. quite a limitation with dab where there's so many more stations |

I realise that this is now a very old thread, but I've recently updated my install.
The magnetic stick-on aerial was ok, but it was a bit annoying having to remove it to wash the car, etc ... so I dug around on ebay and found the replacement diversity antenna module (9187647, though it looks like 6928935 is a discontinued equivalent). It was a direct replacement for the one already in my car, but the new one has a yellow coloured FAKRA connector for the DAB signal. The black connector, common to both modules, feeds the FM radio. The diversity box also feeds the signal from the remote central locking, so the model numbers I quote are only good for countries where the remote operates at 868.4MHz. I checked here: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...39&hg=65&fg=30 I also bought a 3m cable with neutral (Green) FAKRA connectors on each end as these fit both the yellow output on the antenna module, and the socket on the DAB module. The result is a much stronger signal at the receiver, and a neater finish to the car. I paid £25 for the diversity box, and £10 for the cable. Sadly, the DAB-compatible diversity boxes don't come up so often. I lurked on eBay for 6 months. Regards to all, Happy Moose. |

I'm going down the same way - had my DAB tuner retrofitted in the boot with an aftermarket antenna hidden in the bumper. The signal used to be very poor as you could imagine. Now I just finally bought a diversity module 6928935! ![]() |

I've just done the retro fit of DAB tuner to my 2007 E91, confirming that the CDC wiring harness is the perfect length once you unpick it from the other wiring behind the LH boot lining. I've gone for an active stick on aerial in the LH rear window.
Now I need to get the car recoded - Does anyone know the right option code that needs to be added to the VO for DAB? Thanks Chris |

Ok, all sorted now and DAB is working along with my retro fitted Bluetooth. To answer my own question, the DAB Option code to add to the VO is $654. I had some issues processing the car after changing VO, with it getting stuck on the PDC module for some reason but it worked at the third attempt.
The only problem now is that the recoding has caused my sunroof to report a malfunction with the anti trap mechanism and will not work, luckily I had it closed when I was recoding! Chris |
