3.46 vs 3.08 in 6MT
Looking to get an MFactory LSD to tide me over so I'll be able to do some of my turbo work. So the question. Who has done the 3.46 swap into a 6MT car. I think I saw some things around that it isn't worth it to do the swap for performance. I think 1st and 2nd are pretty short as it is. Anyway MFactory has 3.46 cores in so it will take less time just trying to get some pro's and con's. I know gearing so more looking for personal or secondhand experience vs theoretical gearing discussion.

You will tire of it unless it's basically a dedicated track/race car. That's just IMO.

Yeah not only is it dedicated track car it willjust be temporary. I'm swapping in a 9" once the cage is built. Changing up the build order a bit because of the motiv kit.

Just so you know, switching up the ratio will give you a 12% increase in torque throughout the whole rev range, in every gear. This is at a sacrifice of top speed in each gear though.
If fuel consumption is of worry, unless your car is mainly driven on the freeway only, you will actually get better mpg due to less throttle required to move the car, especially if you do a lot of traffic light driving. RPM is only 1 of many variables involved in fuel consumption. RWD, so traction issues can easily be sorted by better/different tires, different chassis setup etc etc Obi Wong Kenobi will be posting up his review on the 3.46 with MFactory Helical LSD shortly.

Love my Wavetrac 3.46 and have beaten on it for 3 years straight without an issue. You travel through gears relatively quickly, but I have never reached my top speed on a road course so I really don't care. If it was a daily driver and saw no track time I would not bother with the 3.46. You will also find that you get less mpg because 80mph in 6th is at like 3100rpm (if I remember correctly) vs. sub 2800rpm.
