Maybe I'll give them a shot. I called smith town and the SA I got was great so far. Email him a list of what the e82 needs with p/n and bulletins of the problems.

There use to be a lot of us on here. We use to have Dave and buster meets on Thursday in farming dale. Now that pole position raceway is opening near adventure land we can start a weekly meet there.

I might give them a second chance.

How do you guys request a specific tech to work on your car when you go to the dealership? Do service advisor's say sure? or do they usually say whoever is available will do the work?

Having a dealership do work on my car is a new thing to me loll as I've always done the maintenance myself on my previous cars.

I knew the techs from my local place in DE so I would simply request only certain ones and the SA would make it happen. I do all my work myself too but since the e82 has full maint/warranty I mine as we'll try some dealerships.

Sorry you don't want to spend the extra few bucks to make sure the car is taking care of. You drive a 328 not like you could really do any performance parts to void your warranty anyways.

Had recall service done at Hassel and it was ok. Not sure if you would drive this far though. Service writer treated me ok too. My situation was nothing write home about. Car out of warranty and just wanted the recall done. They did push to me a bill that was an estimate based on visual inspection which popped my eyes because I knew of other major repairs that needed be done. I wasn't offered a loaner either.

Lol you must be retarded Not to tip the people you are handing over your 50k car to.
Its called getting VIP treatment and peace of mind.
If you cant comprehend that then you shouldnt call yourself an adult cause you have a childs mentality.

So far it has been a very good experience with Rallye. James Delvecchio has been a great SA.

No actually you must be young and stupid. Why else would you tip for a service that is covered under warranty? And if you believe that you have to tip in order to receive "VIP treatment" then you should take your car else where.

You don't have to do anything... but sometimes in life you might come out ahead and other times you might not. It's all based on how you interact with folks. i would tip people who perform well or above and beyond for me, for most people who perform service for me I take the time to chat them up so they remember me as a friend.

Nothing is cut and dry when it comes to tipping nor is the amount you tip cut and dry, its just based on your perception of value and or repeat interaction with the same individuals so they "remember" you in a positive light for the "hopes" that you will build a good status with them in the future so they will "fight for you" should the need arise. There are many grey areas out there where the people behind the scenes can push things through on your behalf or they can just not give a flying F and ignore your complaints. That is what people are trying to describe to you.

I agree with warranty covered work you don't need to tip... but it also builds up your familiarity with folks so in the future if you have a non-warranty event... maybe they can "help" you out as part of goodwill or heavily discounted/etc...

we brought her car in for another service. Tire under warranty and maint (oil, intake and cabin filter, brake fluid flush) This time we went to habberstand and they were awesome. She got a brand new 328 loaner and the car was sone in 4 hours.

Much better than competition in smith town

However, during that same visit they would not fix my adaptive headlight under warranty and did not give me a good reason why it wasn't covered (they said there was a possible short in the headlight or the controller which caused my adaptive headlight failure code to pop up once every month or so).

My second visit to Smithtown was to replace just one tire after I got a flat. The SA that did my intake was a little older and he was a dick. He treated me like shit from the beginning, almost as if he assumed I was a cheap person because I was young and wasn't dressed up too nice. When they said it was $320 for a new tire I laughed and said I would just get one online since I can get run flats for $150 online. He said "BMW parts are expensive, whatever it is you're buying doesn't belong on a BMW."

Hurr durr. Fuck off dick.
I used to have good experiences with smithtown, until my car was in service and I specifically asked to check my rear suspension while other work was being performed. The driver side wheel looked way off and I always had odd wear on the tire too. Long story short, the service advisor said nothing was wrong with it, but the car went back in 3 months later to have an alignment done, and they told me I had something serious off with the rear suspension and asked me if the cars ever been in an accident? They couldn't pin point the problem without disassembling the entire rear suspension and possibly needing to change the sub frame, or take it apart piece by piece to diagnose the problem. The best part of all of this, the first time I asked specifically to check the rear suspension, they did not and they played it off as if they did (service records showed nothing about it being inspected) AND the car was under warranty at the time. The 2nd time it went in, the warranty was expired and I was told a repair with the rear suspension would run me into the thousands, I think $3k+ ... The service rep told me I was better off calling geico and telling them I hit a horrible pothole and I should file a claim under my vehicles insurance to fix the repair.
Filled out a horrible survey and asked to be contacted by BMWNA, never heard from anybody. That was the last time I service any of my cars at smithtown. Still pissed off a year later.
