Launching your car
How do you fine folks usually go about launching your car?
DTC on or fully off? I'll be going FBO, and Cobb stage 2 once I get everything installed. Wondering what the best way to launch an awd car is, without frying the clutch |

You would rather fry your clutch than your transfer case/cv joints/halfshafts...
I try not to launch my car to be honest. I have to launch at like 4,500 rpm to not bog and honestly it scares me too much. |

Let me preface this with I have only launched a few times, however when I do I usually do it with DTC on allowing the tires to spin just a bit. I dont just drop the clutch, but rather rev it to ~2.5-3k RPM and ease the clutch out until it grabs fully.

For those who bought this car to both mod and drive it... as you very much will if you are going fbo.
I only rev up to about 2500 rpms when I launch, do it right and no tire chirps and you LAUNCH with the awd. Think of it as you want the engine going enouhg that the turbos (plural...hope you got the n54!!) are starting to spool the second you start moving. You don't want to launch too low or at idle because then you will have to wait for the turbo to spool up and therefore saving valuable seconds!! This car jumps lengths ahead if you get a good launch, the awd plus the turbo powah are surprising. Higher HP cars will catch you on the top end but nothing I have raced against can keep up the first 60 feet or so.

2,500 rpm really isn't much of a launch. It's more of a speedy roll out. I find you need a very very high rpm to actually launch this car, which is why I don't do it. It has a shit ton of grip off the line. 2,500 rpm is fine, you will still bog as the turbos get going and your rpms rise, but it's better than nothing.

How hard is 2.5k RPMs on your clutch? I just had my clutch replaced in January so I've been babying it. I usually "launch" at less than 1k RPMs now...
Some history: Got the car with 46k on it. Replaced the clutch at 100k. I had two track days with it but I still feel like the previous owner is what killed the first clutch. I mean hey, if you're going to lease a 6mt for three years, the last thing on your mind is clutch longevity

Best way is to do it IMO is to rev it to about 3K then slip the clutch a little but don't dump it otherwise it'll bog. Yeah, it's not great for the clutch but it gets off the line well and doesn't hurt the drivetrain as much as dumping it from 5k. I've dumped it a few times but it bogs unless I'm above 4k which I spin all four wheels. But I'm also running 265s in the rear.
