Clutch upgrade. Recomendations?
I'm upgrading to the parts listed in my signature. I have a stock clutch with 200,000 highway miles. I don't think it will take the power for long. I want to know the most cost effective clutch upgrade I can do and still handle the power. I plan on using an e85 mix often too. Someone recommended the 550i upgrade. Please let me know what you would do, list any parts needed if you can, and even better where I can get then for a good price. Thx

If you are going vargas stage 2 then I'd suggest you stick with the most popular and most reputable offering, which is the Spec Stage 2 + clutch kit.
Pedal feel is increased slightly and the engagement point is similar to stock. With a clamping force of 545 TQ it's hard to beat. If you plan on going over 500WHP you will need to consider going with the Spec 2+ Clutch kit and the Steel Single Mass Flywheel. The above mentioned set ups are our most popular offerings and the majority seem to be very happy with it. Our kit includes everything you need except the bell housing bolts which can be found at your local BMW dealer. |

My buddy has a 335i with aftermarket turbo putting down 600WTQ+ and the 550i/335is clutch has lasted him 40,000km+ so far on that power level. Its actually a very strong clutch. Try find a post about one of those clutches slipping.

I did the 335is clutch myself recently and it's working well. I also got a new dual mass flywheel which I don't know if was totally necessary. Therefore I still have my original which is in good shape with only 48,xxx miles on it. I'll sell it to you for a reasonable price if you're interested. The flywheel is the most expensive part of the kit and if your car has 200k, I'd recommend replacing it.
