Ferrari, Lambo, or R8?
My wife got me a dream car event for Father's Day this year and I finally get to cash it in tomorrow. I get a few laps around an auto cross course in my choice of a few cars. I know some of you may have experience with this, so I wanted your opinions. Out of your standard "super cars", which would you pick for an auto cross event, and why?
Thanks! -Jeremy |

I've gone to a few of these. Driven R8 -V10, Aventador, Superleggera and the 458.
If you only drive one, drive the 458. If you have the opportunity to drive more than one, drive the R8 to learn the track then drive the 458. I would suggest ponying up a little dough to do this. If you can drive 3, put the Aventador in the middle.

Most exotics aren't really in their element on a typical autocross course. However, my favorite "reasonably priced" exotic is the Ferrari 458. Never driven one, but have admired them at the track. F430 is a good substitute. The R8 looks better than it drives, IMO, still cool tho. To me, the fun of a Lambo is spinning heads out on the town, kind of awkward drivers (next-door neighbor has a Murcielago roadster).

Ive driven a 458, R8 V10 and Aventador before. I would agree, learn the track (balls out) in any of the AWD cars (R8 or gallardo if older one), then after, rip the track a new ass with the 458. Although, I got tons and tons of pleasure driving the V10 R8, you can't compare it to any other car in the world.

I did the 458, Gallardo 570-4 Superleggera (I think?), and the 911 Turbo. Now, I've always been a Ferrari fan, but the 458 is the one that I remember most about that day...at least in part because I "broke" it! LOL. It overheated on like my first or second lap, and I had to pit! They gave me my laps back after they'd gotten 'er back on 'er feet, but yeah...458.

458, hands down.
My wife got me 7 laps at Dream Racing in Vegas for my bday this year. The 458 was a no brainer for me and I loved every second of it. It's amazing. Similar in feel to an M3 (compared to AWD Lambos and GTRs) but obviously far better in every metric (braking, handling, power). You're crazy if you don't do the 458. |

It wound up being a 430 Challenge car. It was so much better than the Lambo, IMO, because I had a cage/fire suppression/five point harness, and the best-no traction control and RWD!
I've got to load the pics from the SD card they gave me. Felt really good to drift the back end around (very controllable), and only did one 360 spin when too aggressive! Instructor let me take an extra lap because he was having fun.. Very raw and visceral feel. Only 89$ for the excursion. I highly recommend it to anyone who gets the chance! -Jeremy |

Hey guys, similar to OP, I will have an opportunity to drive the above cars, but there's also a 991 GT3 on the list. Trying to decide between 458, MP4 and GT3. Anyone have any comparisons to share? All three should be easy to drive I would think, and perform at a similar level... Although I love the GT3 as a car, owning / driving one outside of a track rental experience is more likely than the 458 or MP4 I think... Given that, leaning to those two..
