Sept 5th works for me.
Might have to borrow a helmet from someone. |

I've never been to a track either. It sounds like fun, though.
There is a McDonalds in the median between the north and southbound lanes of Rt. 3/301 very close to the turnoff for Capital Raceway Rd. They have a pretty big parking lot. We could meet there around 5:30 or 6 for those who work and/or travel some distance. I'm open to suggestions on time and place. |

It seems that interest and responses to this idea have fallen off. For any who are still interested, I'll be at the McDonalds mentioned above at 5:00 pm on Friday, September 5th. I hope to see you there.

You need a helmet for a 14.0 or faster at Capitol. But on a Friday it's easy to run without one, when I went a few weeks ago the check-in tech told me to go rent one but I never did.
Make sure you have on pants, non-nylon to be exact, they do strictly enforce that rule. It did get more expensive then it was in years past, believe I paid about $40 to run, make sure you get there early to get enough runs in, went after work and only got 2 passes. |

It is my understanding that it is just a "drag strip". I could be wrong and I will defer to anyone with first hand knowledge. I assume they do record your tag # at least.

I used to go A LOT. It is just a 1/4 mile drag strip.
It's very friendly/people are generally cool. They have a motorcycle lane which is must see....ever seen a hayabusa run 9's? The track isn't he greatest...pray for no oil leaks/broken cars/etc. Takes them forever to clean up! Get there early and get your runs in, once it's dark out it gets packed and you'll get like 1 run per hour (sucks and more fun to watch at that point anyway) Anything 13 and under in the 1/4 requires a helmet and they'll be looking for one (after that first run in the 13's). $10 to watch $20 to race. Definitely a fun Friday evening event. Last edited by catcher22; 08-25-2014 at 04:21 PM.. |
