Engine Oil Low?
I'm 3k miles from my next oil change and my car indicated that it was low on oil. Is this normal? I was told by BMW service that this is a common problem for BMWs. I guess that's why each car comes with a quarter of their finest oil. Just curious if this is common. Thanks.

This is not a problem! Its called oil consumption and is normal.
What are the miles your supposed to change the oil?

I have about 15k on it now. I'm suppose to get one at 18k. One was done in the past by the previous owner. How often do you need to get an oil change?

I did a oil change at 2.5K, and plan on doing one at 6K, 10K, and then every 5K. I find it strange that BMW wants me to wait 15K, on a twin turbo car, before I change the oil.

Well, one good reason why they want you to wait 15k is because they want to cut down on their costs. Remember, you are still under the 4yr/50,000 full maintenance warranty, which means your oil changes are free, but only at every 15k miles. Anything in between is a hit to your pocket.

Top up your oil and have it changed at the miles indicated.
