DRL out( Need info how to change)
(I posted this message in the wrong forum on accident).
I am a DIY'er type of guy, but I am not sure how to tackle this one. I've looked at other post and can't seem to find one that matches what I have. I've got a 2009 335i with the driver side DRL lights out. I posted pictures to show exactly whats up. On the passenger side, with the daytime running lights in the on position, make 2 round halo lights come on. On the driver side I have nothing come on. So I am confused on two things. Do I have more than one bulb not working, and how do I change the bulb(s). It doesn't seem very easy to get to from what I can tell. Check out the pictures. There was one small cover I was able to remove and there is some type of light bulb that I can see. The problem is, most of the post I've read about talk about the DRL bulb is a H8, but I'm thinking the H8 doesn't work for halo type DRL's. Can anyone shed some light on this please. |

If it is a 2009 e90, you should find a circular cover right behind the head light (the one you opened is on the top). You dont need to take off any screws for the cap behind the headlight. It is just twist and remove. You driver side halo bulb is most probably out. Access the bulb from the cover behind the headlight. Twist and remove the bulb after you remove the cover. The halo bulbs are H8. There are many many options for H8 DRL bulbs that you will find through this forum. Hope this helps.

Thanks for responding!
I did find initially find that cap that you twist and remove. My problem was this bundle of wires that was inside that area after I twisted off the cap. The wires were pretty tight and I wasn't sure if I was on the right track or not. I took another look. There is a black, red, and blue wires that is covering the H8 bulb. I tried to unscrew it, but I really can't get much of an grip on it. Not much space to work with. You wouldn't happen to have a DIY guide with pics on this? Edit. I ran across the info how to change it in the car manual of all places. I couldn't believe that BMW would actually have some DIY maintenance in there. Anyway all is better now. Please delete thread or leave up for someone else. Last edited by HomieTheClown; 09-06-2014 at 04:40 PM.. |
