i have the infamous peeling trim issue now, especially around the driver side interior door handle

does anyone know if respraying it with beige plastidip would work well to counteract this? would it be possible to make my own plastidip shade to color match the interior trim?

there's also that colorbond stuff, although that may be better for leather than for rubberized plastic

mine is not nearly as bad as that pic, and replacing that door cup thing requires replacing THE ENTIRE door panel, that's probably like $200 for a brand new one

I'm just going to throw out a guess that plastidip won't hold up near as well as the original plastic did...like at all. If you are able to tear the plastic up anywhere near that bad, plastidip won't make a week.

I'm quickly starting to think plastidip has become this forum's 'duct tape'.

of all the criticisms i have heard for plastidip; durability is rarely one of them.
it'll probably hold up much better than the stock trim, it seems to survive being on wheels for a very long time....
i'm more worried about cleaning it

Another alternative is to vinyl wrap those areas. I'm sure professional vinyl wrapping shops can do it for you. It's a cheaper alternative than to replace it completely.

Duplicolor makes a plastic vinyl spray paint. Might be worth exploring.

SEM trim paint may have a color that is close to this. Used it on a Honda I use to own with good results.

Plasti Dip holds up well in certain applications such as on paint or on wheels. An area where your hands are always touching will not hold up at all. I am a plasti dip installer in Las Vegas and I have tried to plasti dip just about everything you can think of. I love the stuff. However there are certain applications such as the one you have that just simply will not work. I do have a solution. If you wouldn't mind having a glossy look instead of the matt look you may plasti dip the handle then clear coat it with a rattle can. It becomes a bit tougher to remove if you ever need to but it will do the trick while remaining "removable". Hope this helps and good luck.

There was a post from a fellow that tried to repaint the peeling trim. He tried sem etc and never found a matching color and ended up spending more than buying the replacement part as these plastic paints are somewhat expensive.
