Trunk sub, infinity baffle or corner mount
Hey. So I just finished putting in the XD600/6, Jehnert XE200 and some Focal coaxes. I started with the base system and Dynavin N6.
Next step must be a trunk sub, i suppose. What do you guys recommend? Any way I need something prebuilt, as I dont feel confident on making the sub enclosure myself. I want that bass LOUD. |

Infinite Baffle will most likely be loudest, and probably most efficient for an amp to drive.
Corner loaded trunk enclosure will lose a lot of bass regardless because it's practically playing for the trunk, unless you either a) have a ski pass or b) fold down your seats Some (yours?) don't even have either option, so you're kinda stuck. Either way, you won't find a prebuilt infinite baffle setup. You can, however find plenty of corner loaded enclosures for either side of the trunk that's pre-built. Like I said though, you'll most likely lose a lot of the bass playing into the trunk. Or, worse case, you overdrive the amp trying to get it to play loud enough to be heard/felt in the cabin of the car. |

I have a ski pass, and fold down seats. But I dont feel like driving around with the seats down, it looks shabby i think.
Maybe I should have a go at building an IB enclosure. I have no idea how or where to start though. |

Start here:
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...hlight=kaigoss It looked to me like kaigoss and a few others did some nice work on their own. If I was willing to cut into my trunk storage, I'd probably do an IB install myself. I'm thinking that in theory, it should sound the best (most natural?) if done right over trying to power the sound through the trunk and into the car with a traditional enclosure. That said, if you don't want to do that 'just' yet, I'd personally try to get the underseats upgraded to something like the Jehnert XE200's as they seem to be the most popular midbass upgrade for our vehicles. See how low you could get those to play before going all out with a sub. (since with a subwoofer, I'd personally only want it to be playing around 70hz or so on down) To be quite frank, for the $$ (or krone?) spent, after seeing and hearing what I got upgrading just the components and the midbass, I'm not entirely sure that the best bang for the buck is spent on subwoofers. You can easily spend almost as much for just the subwoofer and not get near the impact as the right component+midbass upgrade combined. Last edited by Wongway; 09-10-2014 at 03:50 PM.. |

IB is more complicated with fold down seats. Search for TMR's setup, that's how I'd do it, with two 15s.
If you want loud and don't want to spend much money, do what BMW325i did. Two 12s in a ported enclosure will get very, very loud.
