16" or 17" winters for 328xi coupe

The title pretty much says it all. I've been reading the various winter tire threads and narrowed my tire choice (wheels are another story) down to either Dunlop SP Winter Sport 3D or Blizzaks from Tirerack but need to decide on size, 16 or 17, for my 328xi Coupe.

Any insights, opinions, general comments are appreciated.

Nik

If the 16" clears the rotors, then go for those as they will give you a skinnier tyre width in the snow, therefore increasing contact pitch with the ground.

On 16" wheels, you can go for 215/55/16 winters

VeryTrue, but 17s will look better plus suggested by BM is 225/45/17s. Actually I'm wearing 18s, I acquired from a 335 i coupe 189s, with Pirellis 240 sottozero runflats. I figured, since I have an XI I should be able to handle it. The only issue is since my tires are 40 and 35 series my wheels are closer to the snow and what ever debris winter brings. I didn't like the 17s BM package was selling me since it's very common. I still like to keep the looks even it's winter. Do your calcs and see what's best for you but either 16 or 17 is good. Do what the heart says!

I like 17's and they wont be much different in the snow than the 16's.
