I just got word that Optimum Car Care has discontinued offering Opti-Coat 2.0.
Optimum has made the choice to replace Opti-Coat 2.0 with a 2-year product named Gloss-Coat. Opti-Coat Professional, which is now the only Opti-Coat, will only be offered with a 5-year warranty. Yes, 5 years, not a lifetime warranty. I've been saying for some time now that Opti-Coat Pro is not a lifetime product and even Optimum is acknowledging that now. Is it a fine product? Yes. Real deal lifetime product? No. I am not going to disclose how much, but Opti-Coat Pro saw a substantial price increase as well. Expect this to reach private owners when it comes to installation cost. Welcome to the future of OCP. TLDR: Opti-Coat is no longer available over the counter and Opti-Coat Pro(the only OC) will be more expensive. |

you are correct, its going to affect the installer as well as our cost has gone up significantly!
I'm not sure of the long term affect but I can tell you it has made some interesting conversation amongst us all in the Opti Coat community. Some of it was to fend off detailers saying they were using Opti Coat Pro but were in fact using Opti Coat 2 hence a bit deceiving customers. I'm not sure how I feel just yet as an installer but I can tell you that it will hit the customers it will have to as our cost has been increase a great deal! |

Do we know what the difference is between Opti-coat 2.0 and the Gloss-Coat product?
Is it the same thing just rebranded and with different guarantees or is it a different product all together? I could see them having just rebranded it differentiate more between the consumer and professional product, but idk if that is the case.

from what I understand from Optimum -
Opti Gloss Coat will offer more gloss - up to 2 years protection and be more slick than 2.0 so it will be a revision to the Opti Coat 2. |

this really sucks IMHO. The Pro smells nasty and has little time to work. Now installers are gonna charge gazillion. Some are charging up to 650$ not including any prep work such as a detail. This will soon be a 1200-1500$ service.
i liked Opti Coat 2.0 and i am sure the Gloss will work similar but not happy about the price increase. :-( 22ple jacked up price by 20$ more too. Welcome to the future where everything costs more :-( |
