I am purchasing a set of vmr's for my 335xi. The measurements are 19x8.5 et40 and 19x10 et25. I was wondering what the best tire size options that I have are?
The car is not currently lowered but I do plan on eventually installing springs or coils. |

Okay so I came across a list that either 235/35/19 or 225/35/19 could work for the fronts, what are the differences in either of these sizes and which would be better to use?

I'm running: Apex EC-7 wheels and PSS tires: 245/40-18 x 9 et 31 285/35-18 x 10 et 43 I might try 255/295 when I'm due for new tires. My car is a LCI, therefore my rear et43 would be the same as et35 on your car. 265's like Forever Fly said would probably be max width. Also with 10" rims and only 255's or 265' would give you the stretched look. Pan on rolling your fenders with an et25. ` |

You need to be within 1% of the rolling diameter of the tires because you're an X Model. 235/35 and 265/30 or 225/35 and 255/30. Other members who have tried 225 and 265 have experienced issues with their transfer case because it's slightly above the 1% range. I would not recommend 225/35 and 255/30 because it would be an unnecessary stretch for your fitment, especially the fronts. Unless you plan on dumping your car and running spacers in the front because those offsets are pretty weak for stretched tires.

Finally put the wheels on and am so happy with how it looks. I went with 235/35/19 and 265/30/19. Now the problem is I went with sport tires in the front and winter in the rear of two different tire companies and I feel some feedback when shifting gears almost like a transmission slip. I thought that since I got the right sized tires it would be okay but now Im thinking that since i purchased two different types of tires from two different companies that it may throw off the 1% rolling diameter difference. Anyone have an opinion or experience with this problem? Last edited by rzf5084; 09-16-2014 at 10:35 AM.. |

40 in the front and 25 in the rear is a pretty big offset difference, not that it matters for rolling diameter/compatibility. I feel like I can see it in the pictures, do you like the way that looks or are you planning to kick the front out some more. looks like you have plenty of room.

Also, are you sure you have winter tires on the rear? It doesn't look like it...
