FBO jb4 mods come to a halt..
Hey guys new to the forums.. I have done a ton of research for over a year while waiting for my warranty to expire so hopefully not misunderstood as ignorant but admittedly in some areas I am surely a newbie but I think I did alright
(from what I've seen on the forums I'm sure I'll find out haha) Now the fun stuff ordered me some goodies a few weeks ago after a fresh oil change (also have fresh plugs) packages have been shipping and arriving sporadically for various reasons including an error on my end but unbiased useful advice and steady communication throughout have kept it on the enjoyable side of things ****HUGE thank you to Mike with N54Tuning**** First package to arrive was n54tuning 3" CL DP's+fix (awaiting install) 2 days later jb4 g5/USB along with BMS DCI -- installed 9/14 - map 1/5 AMS FMIC arrives about 4-5 days later (awaiting install) ER CP '09+ style with Forge DV's -- +2 bungs just in case ER hasn't even shipped as it's finished to order -- 9/5 order date *anyone know what color spring come with forge dv's? *Curious what kind of rwhp and rwtq I can expect no meth no e85?? Just had oil changed got new plugs also awaiting install and considering valve cleaning in near future I'm at about 71k on '07. (Any suggestions - walnut.. any other options? Not having rough idle that I notice but the occasional hesitation only ever during less than WOT maybe 50-70% between 3k-3750 varies) Now.. My build has come to an abrupt halt. Unfortunately only the jb+dci are in as of now and my problem is now wastegate rattle ! This was present on cold starts and low city speeds on shifts and when off throttle as we'll as at rpm of ~2k - 4k also after coming off the throttle After 1 day of having jb and dci on the wastegate is severely pronounced at any moment when I am off the throttle at any rpm under 5k cold and hot engine. After speaking to the dealer they seem to be willing to take a listen briefly rather than have me go for the $145 diagnostic/vehicle check. I did perform the quick test of unplugging the vacuum lines attached to the actuator and revving repeatedly just as expected not a sound was very refreshing to hear honestly and can only hope they will swap these snails The reversal of these mods is not severe however I am a novice and do not understand the complexity of clearing and removing any trace of the tune any advice is there a certain process/regiment the car needs to have it be undetectable?? (not willing to leave on map 0) And really before I even get ahead of myself does anyone think after removing tune and DCI that the wastegate will be much more subtle where they will tell me it's normal operation?? Just expecting the worst treatment seeing as how I'm roughly 10k til out of their 82k threshold. Anyone ever in similar situation or can anyone do better than speculate whether the rattle will be the same or much less apparent?? I speculate it will be less but can't imagine will be fixed. Lot of questions I realize so thanks in advance for any insight. Also anyone in northern NJ or NY that installs mods PM me don't think I'm mechanically inclined enough to tackle this project. |

Get the turbos replaced. I got mine replaced by the dealer around 78K. I would get that done before you continue modding.
Since you're in the NY Metro area.. you could check out BMW of Mamaroneck (I think that's the one I went to). I have the SA's # as well if you want it..

I believe the JB4 automatically removes the error codes that it causes - and it's generally advised to disconnect the negative (-) terminal of the battery when you're installing or removing the JB4.
I think you should be alright just disconnecting the battery and removing it. |
