Its time to replace brake pads and I was wondering if it is recommended that I change the sensors at the same time?

It is recommended, however, if you haven't set it off it isn't absolutely necessary. I've removed my sensors many times while removing stock pads and installing track pads, and if you're careful in removing them, it's not a problem. Just be sure not to lose the small clip, and make sure you insert them correctly in the new pads.

All that said, it's less than $50 to install new ones.

Replace the sensor with a good, quality brand like Bowa. They are an OEM supplier. Probably cost 20-$25.00 max.

If the sensor has any wear on it, it might not be able to tell If you have new pads on it, when you go to reset the Brake interval in the CPU.

Since we are on the topic of removing sensors. How to remove the sensor without damaging it? I tried pulling it with pillars once and it seems really tight so I stopped. Is there a good way in removing it?

Nope, it takes some force and some wigglin'. Just have to be as careful as possible.

Disclosure: haven't done it for a long time and don't even use them anymore.

Hi all,

Im in the same situation and need to replace my front brake pad sensor as the warning light has come on. From looking on Euro Car Parts there are different types of front sensors, cheaper ones are 635mm and say "not for increased payload" and the more expensive are 692mm and say "for increased payload".

What are the right ones to get, im going to be fitteing EBC Redstuff pads, if that makes any difference.

Yea. Some come off easier than others, I had a set that were a real bitch to take off and after 20 minutes of careful finagling, they were still ruined and ended up being tossed into the trash. Funny now but I was mad then. So if time is money, do it really quickly and waste $20 for as little time as possible.

Totally depends on the payload. Seriously, I believe the length is more important than what "payload" is. Even then there is room to fold the wire if need be (however I am not suggesting to get the long one). Probably best to contact a vendor to see which one to get.
