Question car got **SCRAPED** help

my front left bumper got scraped , does anyone know if i should bring it by BMW tomorrow and get an estimate? Will they fix it or will they refer me to a body shop? The first pic is of a scrape I had on my bumper that BMW fixed for about $100 without going to any sort of body shop. Will this be any different? The 2nd pic is of the scrape I am talking about. Thanks!

UHH very big difference from the first and second pic.. looks like scratch removers nor touch up paint can actually make it look as new.. IMO paint job from dealer.. if too expensive.. then bodyshop with good reputation on painting cars.

anyone know how much BMW does as far as repairs and when they will send you to the body shop?

They can sand it down, use a filler if needed and paint it. I have an E36 where
BMW did that to its front bumper. Good as new.

Yeah doesn't look like the bumper frame itself is damaged, just the paint. Damn.. it hurts just to see it.. I have the same color as your car :sad0147:

I got my back bumper scraped and went to the body shop that the dealer uses. It looks like they will have to take the bumper off fill it in, sand and repaint. Should take 2-3 days and they are charging me $647 after taxes. Yours should be no different.

I would paint the entire bumper, or it will have a visual difference with that color. Find a good shop and you can talk them into extra clear coat, to protect from rock chips, etc.

Repaint or blend and paint. Repainting would be the better option.

Well you purchased a BMW, so going into getting the estimate, you knew it was going to be relatively higher than say a honda civic.

You could get a whole new painted bumper for under $1400. First, what did you hit? If it was white there is the possibility that the majority of the damage is paint transfer. If not, that is primer and the bumper will need a re-spray or to be replaced. Either should cost less than $700.

Body work seems to vary wildly from dealership to dealership. In my neck of the woods, Knauz has an excellent on-site bodyshop. The only (questionable) catch is that they really despise doing half-assed repairs; for example, they almost always quote bumper cover replacement instead of heat & bondo.

Those wheel arch scrapes can be killer, though; my GF had what we thought was a little paint scrape on her E46, but when we took it in for a quote they pointed out the the entire wheel arch was pushed in the tiniest bit. It had to be rolled out, then re-sprayed and re-rust-gooped underneath.

they don't make any profit if they just bondo it and paint the section.
