Anyone have an update on the stiffer 335is engine mount after some use? Does anyone else hypothesize there could be issues with a difference in stiffness after significant wear?

Just trying to make sure I dont make more problems (uneven wear or strange vibrations) for myself later by using different materials for "engine suspension" parts.

I have slight vibration at idle.
I'm getting no vibration when first start up(about 900rpm) but start to get small vibration after engine warms up(5-600rpm).
Is this symptom of motor/transmission mount?
Easy DIY?

I have this same problem. I replaced the passenger side motor mount to no avail. I am still unsure how to get to the driver's side passenger motor mount (have an XI and there is no room). Would be curious if we come up with a solution on this.

Sounds like you're gonna have to drop the sub frame.

How many miles? Have you considered replacing motor mount when you do the oil pan gasket?

I'm getting the upgraded motor mounts installed today as I have the same issue. Curious to see if they solve the problem...

All vibrations are completely gone. The car is now as smooth as it was when I first bought it. The mechanic said one of the motor mounts was completely shot and it was about time for new transmission mounts as well. The labour was expensive but everything worked out perfectly.

I have a weird "rattle" or clank noise on start up only, wondering if this could be motor mounts. Car has 200k on it and they are stock mounts. I do notice that if I push on the valve cover just a bit I can see the motor deflect in the engine bay.

100 percent your motor mounts are worn at that miles.

Get trans mounts while you are at it.

Frankly, every bushing in the car is pretty much ready to be swapped at 100k.

Service Maintenance Review

Andrew Russell, BMW Master Tech

Lake Forest, CA

Have 06 330i with 127k miles. I've gone over the car myself and replaced the following around 100k.

All OEM Parts.
Spark Plugs
Ignition Coils
VANOS Solenoids
Camshaft Position Sensors
Belt
Belt Tensioner
Idler Pulley
Waterpump
Thermostat
Oil Filter Housing Gasket
Valve Cover Gasket (CPO Ticking Recall)
Exhaust Lifters (CPO Ticking Recall)
Oil Separator + Hoses
Intake Manifold Gaskets
PS Fluid
Coolant
Diff Fluid
Air/Microfilter
Cleaned MAF

Strut/Shocks
(Don't make the mistake I did of not replacing your strut mounts when you do your struts get the lemforder strut mounts they are 1/3 the price of the OEM ones which are $100 AND WAY overpriced and are identical.)

Rear Shock Mounts
Sway Bar End links
Brake Rotors/Pads
Brake Caliper Slide Bushings
Brake Anti Rattle Clips
Brake Slide Pins
Adaptations Cleared

Still at idle I would get this odd rumble, very annoying, It had to be motor mounts, I ordered the upgraded 335is motor mounts, the passenger side is the upgraded mount as it takes the majority of the load.

I planned on installing them myself, but I didn't have a lift and after getting a excellent quote to install the mounts WAY less expensive then everywhere else from Drew, decided to have them installed.

Met up with Drew in the shop in OC, first impression, this guy knows these cars, one of the most knowledgeable guys I've talked to, you can tell he works on these cars all day, knows all there secrets most are not good

Shop had two beautiful brand new lifts just installed, a 06 E60 M5 he was replacing the SMG Clutch

Knows all the shortcuts to how to get things done on these cars fast (as most dealer techs know) dropped my front subframe casually as I was talking to him under the car like he has done it 9000 times, mounts go in no problem.

My passenger side mount was shot and had been that way for a while he estimated 70-80k there is a bump stop on the mount the motor will start to ride on when the mount goes bad, the driver side was good but I replaced it anyway.

The transmission mounts are cheaper then lunch at a fast food restaurant and a fast install so I did those as-well, they were not torn but significantly compressed and shorter then the new ones.

The car fired up SILKY SMOOTH, I don't remember the car EVER idling this smoothly, not sure what is just new mounts and what is due to the upgraded HD 335is mount.

Transmission shifting is improved more notchy, should noticed a even better difference when I do the fluid/filter soon.

I redlined the car and did not even recognize it, all the slack in the drivetrain is gone, car just goes now.

Drew went over the entire car with me, everything looked great I was particularly concerned over bushings he told me the only ones that usually go bad on e90's is the front tension struts mine looked like they just been replaced but they had not been, was shocked to hear this after reading guys from the east coast having theirs replaced at 19k. Shit roads I guess. I also slowly walk the car over driveway/ramps all the time like I'm lowered, I know people who just crash into them.

My Oil Pan is leaking which I'm likely going to have done by him, and I have a slight bend in my front wheel that you can see by looking at a fixed point on the inner part of the wheel and spinning it on the car.

335is Motor Mounts
22116793240 Passenger Side (Upgraded HD) $76.85
22116760330 Driver Side (Same as 335i/330i/328i/325i) $76.85

You also should get new bolts
22116850329 x4
and nuts
07119904670 X2

335is Transmission Mounts
22316799331 x2 $14.04 <--- Yay that is cheap

You can order parts at bmwpartspros.com

He can get VERY good pricing on parts but I posted the P/N above for people who like to get there own stuff.
He only uses OEM for everything so otherwise bring your own parts.

Anyone in Socal can PM me for his info/pricing. He is only available Sat/Sun.
Thanks for the info. Do you track your car? Racing etc...?
