There are the amazon ones:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/iKKEGOL-Inte...words=odb2+usb

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Shinntto-Int...2JXWJJGTX7AMQM

Some indicate they work on VAG cars, is there a difference between BMW and VAG when it comes to this cable?

I don't mind how much it costs within reason...

Been looking too for a OBD cable. Mines a pre LCI so yes USB cable compatible only.

Been looking at a few options. The BMWhat cable here 27 euros (plus buying the App) :

http://www.ivini-tech.de/en/adapter/...el-usb/a-1001/

Or been recommended this cable here £24.99 plus P&P £3.99 :

The seller has confirmed it will work with my 2006 year model car.

I ordered a cable shack one yesterday. £50 and it was delivered this morning I decided to get the convertor as my parents have a Y reg E46 to and I can take a look at that sometime.

I had originally bought a cheap ebay one that says it does DCAN but doesn't appear to. Looking at the PCB half the pins don't seem wired either, so I will be comparing the two later to see what the difference is.

Anyway would recommend cableshack!

Decided to take the plunge and bought one from cable shack. Suppose can't go wrong for £20 quid (+P&P £3.99). Thanks for the tip BoondogUK.

So I had a crack at coding and seem to have struggled even before starting!

I have installed everything, but I can't load the expert mode profile. Found a v3 of the profiles online, its in the PFL folder, but still no joy

Time to watch some golf and try again later!

My cable arrived over the weekend so not had time to set it all up. Thought better to do some research first before having a tinkle

Anyway, came across this site which may come of use as there's tons of stuff out there :
