Maybe one of the couplers is leaking?

Shouldn't sound much different over stock i'd assume? Might be a leak somewhere, i'd check both connections to start with.

I had slightly more turbo noise after installing my vrsf ic and cp, no leaks or anything

I'd recheck the connections at the chargepipe and at the intercooler. If possible do a leak test.

What BOV/CP are you running? Sounds like you may have a leak

Mine whistles much more audibly, and on the sport tune, is holding boost at 14.5lbs steady.

But it's not a howling sound at all.

You can get a howl from a few places, oil filter can crush and make noises, a connection can leak just the slightest and cause a supercharger sound.

Quick update. It was actually both. Coupler was loose and oil housing gasket broken. Thanks for the input guys!
