VRSF review and install review
VRSF review and install review
9/30/2014 I order a charge pipe with Tial BOV and 7" intercooler. It took a couple days processing from the website. After it was confirmed and the payment went through, it was two days to North Carolina . I received the two boxes and I was immediately excited about it . It's been a while since my car has had a nice present . I opened the charge pipe box first and assembled everything . Second, I opened the intercooler and checked for the extra upgrade pipe I ordered. All parts looked really nice . I was missing a #12 screw ( 1-1/4" long) for the intercooler , but I live next to homedepot so it was only a 5 min drive. I also had to go for a dremel to cut the pipe band so no big deal. I installed the charge pipe first it was a little harder than I thought to install . There is not much room between the dual cone intakes, the chargepipe , the alternator, the A/C lines, and the pipe near the fan shroud. So after the install of the charge pipe, I noticed lower end boost was returned to normal . It took some adaptation runs to get the smoothness back and the throttle closures to be removed. The DME had been compensating for the boost leak for some time. Overall I was satisfied with the VRSF charge pipe and Tial BOV. I recommend the $25 up charge for the C-clip . You won't have to worry about it coming off . Next I installed the 7" intercooler. Boy do you have to cut to fit that sucker on. The stock intercooler is a joke compared to the VRSF 7". I removed the bumper and bottom tray cover. I cut the bumper brace or what most people call the bumper shroud. Like I had seen before, just cut it all away in the center to make it easier . Just don't cut off the screw locations for mounting. It was a bit of a pain to get the intercooler flush but I realized that in my case that I was going to have to *not* use the tabs provided on the intercooler for the fan to sit on. That fixedly problem and everything went together quickly (no gap). The one thing I did not read about is that despite ordering the extra pipe upgrade , I still had to cut the passenger side "one time use " clamp. That is why is why I needed the dremel. The driver side was easy because of the replacement pipe. My recommendation is to buy the lower charge pipe upgrade for $30, so it goes faster or If you mistakenly cut through the OEM piece while trying to remove it, you have the new pipe. Overall I was satisfied with the part look, and fitment. I next went for a test drive and some 3rd gear pulls. It felt great. My butt dyno tells me that it is faster. The repeated pulls felt much like the first pull...strong. I have to say that the price and the results speak for themselves. I think it looks great in bumper and performs well on the highway. Now I'm thinking about VRSF downpipes. This modding is addicting.

You can't go wrong with VRSF downpipes as the next mod, Enjoy!
Lower Charge Pipe upgrade recommendation is also worth noting as it makes the its easier for the 07-08 guys. |

Charge pipe and FMIC are a great upgrade together IMO! The 7" must require a good deal of cutting as the stepped 5" is nearly a perfect fit.
The addiction WILL get worse with adding downpipes!
