valve cover gasket, replace valve cover as well?

I have a front valve cover bolt that is broken and needs fixing. I noticed that the part for the valve cover changed to a plastic part after 06. Should I change it to the new part? Is it 'better'?

I had a broken bolt when I removed the valve cover gasket while fixing the ESS module. I was able to remove the screw (aluminium) with a flat head screwdriver. I did not replace the valve cover itself. I believe it is magnesium and doesn't have any plastic bits on it.

Did your mag valve cover have any corrosion on it? The sealing surface?
