I'm confused. 571C is 1060F. Are you measuring 571C post turbo and then applying the ~300F rule of thumb to get to pre-turbo numbes? Or did you add another EGT probe pre-turbo and are measuring 1360F with that probe?

I'll be really, really interested in some of your findings if you've added a pre-turbo probe.

A 1060F post turbo EGT temp on a long pull like that is still really good. You have room for more fuel :-)

I did the math .. Added 300.. If you like I will add an egt probe to my exhaust manifold.. I think I found just the spot yesterday...

Yes! That would be great to further the knowledge base on this vehicle. I haven't seen this type of data yet. Would love to know the relationship of the pre/post turbo EGT's on this configuration.

TDIwyse,
Do you have the EGR cooler delete documented? OR perhaps a short description of what's involved?
Is it as simple as connecting the coolant passages with a coolant hose?
Also what about the exhaust manifold, did you fabricate (or buy) a delete plate to block the exhaust gas passage?

Blocking the EGR from the intake is fairly strait forward, however, in another thread there are a lot of cases of EGR cooler cracking and causing all sorts of issues, so it seems like if you going to do it, might as well scrap the whole damn thing. Guidance would be much appreciated.

TDIwyse thanks for the reply, that's exactly the info
I was looking for. Now I just have to figure out how
going to make that plug. Any specific reason for a copper plug? It's malleable and easy to grind/fit, if I had a casting machine at my work I could probably
Fab one up from brass in a day...

iaknown has some, but you have to keep your egr cooler in place or use a spare one to chop off the ends and use with plugs.

I think that's what BB_Cuda did as he also removed his EGR cooler. Might want to check with him for sure. I did something else since iaknown didn't have the blocking plates when I was doing the work in the above link.

Thanks guys! Some good info here.
The car is at a dealer right now, for the Cyl.2 injector code and rough idle, oh snap! I've only had it for two weeks. So I'm gonna ride it out stock, until
the warranty runs out in a few months.
But I'll keep you all updated once I'll get rid of the EGR.

More data. Trend continues. Sept had some longer trips...
