Skynet car.

Very cool, but I wouldn't buy one. I do not want autopilot features in my car. I don't care if I can turn them off either. Then again, I don't have navigation, intelligent steering, park distance control, rear view cameras, or any of that (my opinion) unnecessary driver aid BS.

Still very cool though, and great to see a system like that functioning. Wonder how it works in traffic, and how quickly it can react to someone say, weaving through traffic and messing up. For years the human brain was faster. We'll see I guess!

then don't post about it. We get it, you're such an automotive purist with your turbocharged, ABS, traction controlled, fuel injected, and electronic rear diff 1-series.

I love it. My next car will be a Tesla, barring some competitor coming out with something better in the next couple of years.

Maybe I'm immature but I snickered inside each time I read "Elon Musk unveils the D".

Don't take it so personally. I wasn't insulting your mum.

i wonder how many current S owners will trade theirs in for the D. I may jump on the standard model S if they are now offering certified pre-owned P85s It may just be affordable then.

the power capability has always been there for the last 100 years however the range and charging time is still not optimized to be a true replacement for gas burners. Unless I can drive it 6 hrs straight it will never be on my shopping list. cool yes practical no

The people buying a Tesla probably have the same likelihood of driving six hours as they do shopping at a Family Dollar.

My next car will be a Tesla for sure. Probably the Model X. Need something exciting to drive on a daily basis. The X3 is such a yawn fest. Also, California is dotted with superchargers, so road trips are not even an issue here. I went to remote Mendocino coast the other day and saw a couple of Teslas.

To be fair, you don't have to use those function. Yes. they're there, but it doesn't mean you have to use it- the car still has all the other goodies.
0-60 is 3.2 seconds? that's supercar territory in a fully functioning and highest safety-rated car.
I bet it'll still be a fun car to drive with that instant torque factor.

Without a doubt. It's big news.

Remember that electric Merc SLS? What was it, 2 years ago?

Pretty sure people many won't trade their Model S back to Tesla. They subtract depreciation + $1 for every mile you've driven on the car to calculate your trade in value. It's more worth it to trade it in to another dealer/private party.

I was planning on buying an F30 next year. I might end up leasing an F30 in an effort to give Tesla time to develop and release the Model 3. If it ends up being what is rumored, I'll be leaving BMW for Tesla.

I'm not in the six-figure car market, but if I were I would be all over Elon Musk's D.

Interior is cheap and falls apart worse than in an Alfa Romeo.

This, that actual fit and finish, plus the detailing are not up to snuff for a vehicle costing as much as a Model S does.

I went to test drive the Model S at the Tesla factory in Fremont, CA two weeks ago. I had the intention of checking out how the electric motor holds up and to find out more about the Model 3. I was told that the Model X has been delayed for another year and the Model 3 delayed for another 5-6 years =\. Not sure how accurate this information is but definitely unfortunate. I had planned to purchase the Model 3 two years down the line, but looks like that may be a no go for now.
