hey everyone thanks for all your inputs. i ended up going with Pure, due to the fact that i am within 30 mins of them and they said they can swap out the turbos themselves for me. going to drop it off this friday!

i see that most of you that are replying to my thread already have either a vargas or pure stage one turbo. my next question for you is, with this bigger turbo installed iam i good to go on map 5 on my JB4 or do i need to get a Cobb and do a pro tune? thanks again for all your guys info iam a sponge sucking it all up haha

Congrats on the buy, you will love it! Regarding tune, with JB4 you can do a custom Map 6. All the information about these settings can be found in the PURE turbo thread. Some of us can help you with that too, PURE has a custom map 6 too they could probably help you with. Typically start at 17psi across the board and see how well you are holding the boost.

I see that you have a n55 too, Terry recommends a backend flash (esp if you have DCT). My car is in the shop getting an updated ROM as we speak and i'm hopeful that i can flash my dme as per cobb believing my version is supported. You can also go with a protune if running COBB only but i would not recommend off the shelf (OTS) COBB maps...

FIR is the filter type, normally you see SAE. The amount of filtering/smoothing is the 40 number.

A shady operator can tweak altitude and temp settings to make the dyno read higher, but I doubt that is happening here. It is possible for it to be slightly off if he was a little off though. Probably not enough to be a factor though.

so should i just keep the Jb4? or would you suggest also getting the cobb? cause if i dont have to spend an extra 900 for a Cobb AP i could put that towards something else more useful for my car. also my car is a 6mt. thanks again for your help

Are there any N55 backend flashes that you can use the free BB flash program with? Buying a BT cable would be quite a bit cheaper than buying the Cobb if so. Then keep your JB4 to do what it does....

I run mine with JB4 only. Just have FF wires and a 255 inline. Map 6 tweaked to spike about 19psi and tapers to 17.5ish. Works fine for me, and logs look great.

That is N54 only, unfortunately.

Also to Schmidty, you are just loading a back end flash so you can try to find a used V2 Cobb and keep your JB4. That is my plan.

I would love to see a screen shot of how you have map 6 if you could get a chance to get one! glad to hear your running good logs with JB4 only

I've aggregated all of the Pure dyno graphs, from shop cars to customer cars, here if you want to compare them to the Vargas graphs. It seems as though VTT makes equal if not marginally higher power than Pure.

Yes, that was huge for me and made me jump on the group buy.

I would easily go with Pure. I still remember Vargas as a lying bullshitting douchebag.

Go look at the last 2 pages of the "Let the speculation begin" thread on N54 to see Tony being a complete asshat. He stopped for a while, but is back to his old ways again. Rob seems to get drug in to it some too. Makes me all the happier to go with Pure!
