modded 328
Whats up guys, picked up an 09 328xi and so far i love it! I know its not a race car and thats not why i bought it so don't take this thread in the wrong direction on me. I am completely new the euro cars in general and have a few questions. What would be some good mods to start with? I know there isn't much to do for my car but what can i do? I was thinking maybe muffler delete but not sure if that would make my car sound like a honda Also was considering the charcoal filter delete but have heard mixed things. What else can i do? Also, the previous owner de-badged the "328i" on the trunk and scratched the sh*t out of it, so i was hoping that there may be a trunk lip that goes that far does on the trunk and may cover the scratches? I don't want to get the whole trunk repainted for that one spot.

There's lot of ideas to be found on this forum for mods if you search. You may also look at my 09 328 xDrive in my garage for some basic mods.

I would get an Exhaust to make it sound better.
Lots of good options out there

On PC, click on my car under my user name. On a mobile app, click on my user name, then profile and scroll down click on my car. If you want any detail, just let me know. Not much to do on 328 for performance, but still always nice to make it your own on a so well balanced chassis!

My mechanic concurs, but says that it IS possible to swap software and intake manifolds to match the first higher powered E90--the 2006 330. That car apparently got 255 HP vs the 230 the 328s get. The mechanic says those 25 HP are simply a function of those 2 changes (manifold & software) and these can definitely be done. While he's pricing it out for me, there's no rush (in my case) because it's a CPO car that still has 3 years of warranty I'm not about to give up through alterations.

Indeed the 3 stages intake manifold produces some gains but parts, labor and tune is costly for 25hp IMO.

As of what I've read on here, it would be 1200-1500$ for parts+labor, and you must get a proper tune (another 500$) for it to make use of the added available power. So 2000$ for 25 hp? It's your call, but I've decided to keep the money. German cars are expensive enough so I consider myself lucky to have one and I'm more than happy with it!
I hope that helps! |

I was gonna do this mod, but it is way to much money for not a substantial gain.. on the other hand, people spend 2k on exhaust, and this does not give you more power...so idk. that's your call. |

To the newer folks that are discussing intake manifold conversions, realize that peak power is not what you should be looking for to build a fun drivers car.
To enjoy the car more, you ideally want to have a power / torque curve that builds earlier in the rev range, to make the car significantly more fun to drive. Both of these goals are reached with the use of the three stage intake manifold + tune
