Hi, I just got a new 335. Prob is I think they wash them in a genric wash as I notice already these fine "scrathces" in the clear. I have never yet take the car to a regular wash as I notive before when I had a 330 that they cause small scratches, this makes me wonder when they came from as the car had 1 mile. Going forward I was wondering if you guys have any recommendations for products the protect the clear and paint? Which is the best and longest protecting product and what do you guys recommend for washing.

Zaino, Zymol, Mothers, Meguiars ....

check out rejex... its more rare, less popular... but its better than most sealants. rejex with a coat of zymol over it is beautiful... Rejex gives you the durability, Zymol gives you the lustre... its perfect.

for auto shampoo i use Zymol Clear Auto Bathe, it seems expensive but it's VERY lathery and you put about a quarter size amount in a bucket and fill with water and that's more than enough for an entire wash.

Start with Dawn, then give the car a good claying. Follow that up with whatever correction you need for those scratches (Menzerna works best for me if you can deal with the dusting), throw a glaze on there (again, I like Menzerna FTG), next is a sealant ( i prefer acrylic because it lasts/protects longer - Menzerna FMJ or Zaino - carnuaba will do less good in winter but it looks more rich/wet/deep for a week or two), then use a Quick Detailer of your choice to keep it looking solid in between details (Zaino Z7 is my all time favorite).

For a regular car shampoo I use both P21S and Meguiar's NXT (NXT is available locally, P21S is not)

Note that to correct those clear coat scratches in the right way, you will need a random orbital buffer or rotary buffer (necessary to heat up the polish and break down the particles). Start with the random orbital. The rotary is only for seasoned detailers and you can do quite a bit of damage to your paint.

If this seems like a little much for you to do, you can probably find someone who will do a great job for you for around $200-$250.

In my personal opinion, Zymol is a rip off and Pinnacle Souveran or P21S will deliver 99% of the results of Zymol at a lesser price. Carnuaba wax is not an ideal paint protectant, it is just the best looking option. Zymol uses pure white carnuaba in high concentrations, but it will wear off just as quickly as any other carnuaba and not deliver a discernable difference in shine.

Ok, I have to give you the benefit of the doubt. Based on your post count, you haven't been here very long and obsessing about your car like most new parents, but you should have already read Picus's and DavidN's stickys on detailing.

If you've been lurking here for any amount of time, you should have known about the dealer-installed swirls. Never, EVER let your dealer wash you car!! The #1 rule in preserving your paint!!! Now you're going to need a Porter Cable buffer with appropriate pads and polishes to fix the damage...you can do it though, it's not rocket science!!!

yeah i pretended to ignore that part, but actually, certain companies like Zymol, and others i can't think of... do make waxes for specific cars because different manufacturers make their paint differently and apply them in different processes. i know they have a wax for japanese cars, italian cars, and they even had a special one for the BMW Z3's to address the issue of the very soft paint the Z3's had.

the fine scratches came from your dlr wiping the car down with dirty towels or when the car came in it was wiped down with chamois or something else, i would recommend Poorboys EX-P, as for wax i always use Meguiars, i feel as if they offer a deep shine, one of the best that is.

P21S wax is made from beeswax/parafin wax which DOES NOT protect your paint from UV. All it does is bead water.

P21S is coming out with a new carnauba wax at the end of this month. There are a lot of waxes out there.

Mainly, the most important step of the "detail" is paint correction/polishing
