New 335d owner

Wife just traded in her 2010 Z4 sDrive 35i for a 2011 335d with 20k miles (8/11 build). It has Sport package and pretty much every option available I think. Picked it up at CarMax for $34k.

The Z4 was a blast to drive but a little too much for a daily driver. It also was in and out of the shop for suspension issues due to the harsh California freeways. Dumped it at 50k miles after warranty expired. While in the shop she had the opportunity to drive several 3 series loaners and fell in love.

I haven't had the opportunity to drive it yet but can't wait to feel the power of that monster engine. After reading the CBU issues I'll pull the EGR off and take a look to see what's built up in the last 20k miles. Single owner California car.

Not sure i followed the carmax warranty/not a Toyota exchange but welcome to the "club". 10 months of OEM warranty left and only 20,000 miles young. Options for modification less so living in California but you could take the "Hooper route" and block off the EGR cooler and use his method of clearing the light upon initial startup. He lives in California as well.

Hooper, I forget if you use the bav tech cable to clear it or if you do it through an OBD dongle/android phone. Hooper is also a "mether". That sounded bad, didn't it. tee-hee. He uses methyl alcohol injection to keep his intake clean.

Congrats on adding the 335d to the family! Nice color combo. Just wait till you drive it for the first time.... I guarantee you'll be grinning from ear to ear! The massive torque is too sweet, Enjoy!

Haha, I prefer meth head I use the JBD cantool, but I have heard its been discontinued. The only thing I like about it is that it allows me to just leave it connected and hidden all the time, I just have to reach down next to my seat and hold the button for a second after starting to get rid of the light for the drive. I dont even notice any more really, its practically part of the seatbelt process.

I suggest getting your air vents aimed to where you will like them and then never touch them again! With all the talk about CBU and DEF injection issues, I think those crappy vent adjusters are the least reliable part on the car. Ive broken two already and I pretty much never touch them, I cant imagine how many you would break if you were the kind of person to be moving them all the time. Stupid things break if you just look at them too long.

Hope for your sake that those wheels last if your freeways are bad, I had two crack on me before I threw in the towel. RFTs are nice for flat tires, but if you crack a wheel badly enough that you cant drive on it, RFTs dont do jack for you.

#1 priority should be EGR block, at 20k miles the engine is probably still fairly clean so you can stop the bleeding early.

From your pictures, the front bumper and wheels would be different. Here are what you would expect to see with m sport. Your front bumper and wheels are identical to mine which was sport, not m sport. Dont worry though, you really arent missing out on anything except cosmetics

Yes, makes sense. Saw MSport suspension on the options and assumed it was MSport package not just the sport package. No regrets although those rims are sick!
