TPMS questions

Not sure if this is the right place to post this question but here goes.
I picked up a set of winter wheels for my D, but previous owner removed the TPMS.
I know I can just balance them and run them but I am considering adding the sensors back.
Searching the Internet these things run from about $200 for the sensor alone to $43 per wheel for the whole set up including valve stems.
the cheapest solution seems to be:

Dorman® - TPMS Sensor
2011 BMW 3-Series
BMW 328i / 328i xDrive / 335d / 335i xDrive / 335is / M3 2011, Frequency TPMS Sensor by Dorman®. Clamp-In. Frequency: 433 MHz. With Plastic Housing. Wheel Valve Stem Hole Mounting. Has anyone used these and are they reliable?

Dorman sells fairly cheap replacement parts. Some of their stuff is good and I have heard that some is not. I have used a replacement pulley from them and a replacement throttle position sensor with no issues on either but also are cheap and easy to replace should they fail. TPMS not so much. I would be inclined to step up to the beru/huf replacements which are 4 for the price of 5 Dormans, but they are the OEM manufacturer of the sensor.

I got mines from Tirerack.com Call Alex @ ext 294 he's my go to guy for the past 10 yrs

I believe Tischer, ECS, etc carry OEM ones for just over $50 a pop.

TPMS is great, you get a slow puncture and they could save you a rim. I would put them in on your regular tires when you replace them. I guess you could forgo them on your winter tires if you only put them on for an occasional trip to the snow, but if you use your winter tires for like three or four months straight, I would put them in those tires too.

Thanks I took hooper's advice and bought some of the beru/huf from tirerack. they were not much more expensive, about $225 for all four with the valve stems.

Ya I will probably put them on and drive for 3-4 months. Last year my summer performance wheels just would not go with any amount of snow!
