i didnt know something like this needed a detailed review. it cleans your wheels and i obviously feel that it works well enough to make a thread about it...

spray on, rinse of, and then its clean. is that detailed enough?

on second thought if you give me a min i can go out and count the particles per square centimeter that was left by this wheel cleaning product after letting it soak for the recommended 15 seconds as written on the back of the spray bottle.

Sorry, most people don't buy things or take reviews that say "this is awesome" with much seriousness.

You say endorsements don't work? You'd be wrong. Seeing that BBS approves Griots wheel cleaner prompted me to try it, as my Alpinas are made by BBS.

Its not a spray-and-hose-off product, but is meant to be sprayed on a dry wheel, sit for a minute or two, agitate with a sponge (included) and rinse off.

The sponge was about the perfect size for my wheels, which I think helped with the results, but either way, they came out really clean. I sprayed it pretty liberally, and I'm wondering if it doesn't need that much to work just as well, which would help on the economy side.

Overall, I'd recommend it.

Since I have a loaner, I decided to use this product (Eagle-1 on one of the rims. The rims looked like they hadn't been cleaned in awhile so I thought this would be a good test for this product.

The instructions were pretty straight forward: Spray on rim, wait about 10 seconds or so, hose off, wipe with a dry cloth/towel. Total time to clean the rim was about 1 1/2 minutes. I really want to try this out on my M68 rims since they are much more of a pain to clean and keep clean. Even if it takes me 10 minutes total to clean all four rims, it will save me a good 30 minutes or so.

I washed a really dirty CL600 today and figured I would try out the Menzerna Wheel & Tire cleaner.

I also documented Poorboys Spray & Rinse wheel cleaner. This is not a side-by-side test of the two but rather just two wheel cleaners I tried out at the same time.

Here is the Poorboys wheel:



Poorboys went on very easy but I do recommend that you use a heavy duty solvent resistant sprayer. It will ruin your normal sprayers in a few uses.

I allowed each wheel cleaner to dwell for 2 minutes and then hosed them each off with a household water hose and nozzle. Using my pressure washer would of be best but not everyone has a pressure washer so using it would of given me results rather unbalanced for the general public.

PB's is pleasant to work with BUT use caution on aluminum wheels. I would not spray it on aluminum wheels but rather sponge it on.

After 2 minutes I rinsed it of using only garden hose pressure. Here is a picture taken right after rinsing it:



Pretty impressive eh?

Here is the right wheel, which will get the Menzerna wheel cleaner.



The packaging of the Menzerna is of course top notch but that soon faded away as the spray trigger on the bottle doesn't work well at all. Because it is a "gel" it just spurts out in unsightly clumps. There is no adjusting of the sprayer to get a better pattern or flow. At this rate it would take the whole bottle to thoroughly cover 4 wheels!

Here is a picture of the Menzerna Gel on the wheel. This is after several squirts.



After allowing it to dwell for 2 minutes I rinsed the wheel with garden hose pressure. The results were not good at all. The Menzerna wheel cleaner needs agitation in order for it to work properly. Here is an AFTER picture.



Conclusion:

Menzerna wheel gel is an OK wheel cleaner but nothing special. P21S is perhaps just as good if not better. If you want a VERY safe wheel cleaner and you like to keep within one line then Menzerna wheel cleaning gel will suit you fine. Just don't expect it to be a spray & rinse product. For that PB's spray & rinse is a great product that does what it says.

Were your wheels dirty? Was it spray on/spray off? Did you have to agitate it with a sponge? What is your wheel finish? Etc.. I've used that Meguiar's product before on our Lexus' stock wheels. It really didn't do anything that soap and water didn't. I didn't think it was worth buying again, apparently you did, perhaps a review that was more detailed than saying something is "awesome" could save a person a buck or two. Then again, you could state how many particles per sq. cm were left on if you want to be cute.

yes the wheels were dirty thats why i was cleaning them

spray on spray off

no need to agitate, its clearish liquid inside but sprays on as a clingy froth. it takes 15 sec

wheels have powdercoated finish but the bottle says its safe for all finishes.

if this product didnt do more than soap and water i wouldnt have posted this, nor would i have said that it was awesome. it obviously worked for me and theres really not much to say about it except for the brand and name of the specific product. im not going into silly detail about the spray pressure and packaging and nozzle type etc beucase... oh yeah its an "over the counter" wheel cleaner for my 3 series bmw... need i really get esoteric about it?

I just bought this stuff, and when I got home, I realized the bottle said in fine print on the back "DO NOT USE ON POWDERCOATED WHEELS"

ok so i just got my wheels repaird (shop that mounted the tires scuffed up the wheels)

i was just talking to the repair guy and he said to me
"dont ever put anything that says 'wheel' cleaner on your wheels. that stuff has acid in it"

he also said "what i do make sure the wheels are cool and dry and clean the rubber first with 'bleach white' then i use regular soap and water on each rim with a sponge or whatever you use. dont let anything soak, do one at a time"

so that settles it for me, in the end, we all learn something (atleast i did)
