charge pipe question
*Note* you don't have to read the whole thing can just skip to the question in the second paragraph and c the picture.
So i recently just installed the ER charge pipe into my 335i with HKS bov. I made sure everything was plugged and tight in correctly. But then when i tried to test out the BOV by stepping on gas some weird sound came out. The first high pitch after I let off the throttle sounds perfect and normal but as the air blows out from the BOV I hear another sound. Not sure what that second sound is but doesn't sound normal. The only thing I concerned and think it might be is probably how I attached the CP to throttle body. Pic below So my question is it ok to use this stock c clip instead of the coupler? thank you |

Using the stock C-clip is actually the preferred method over the aftermarket coupler. When installed correctly, the stock C-clip wont leak or lose boost. The coupler may end up leaking and losing boost or blowing off at some point. Just check the connection and make sure it's installed correctly.

Use the stock C-Clip, the couplers have been known to pop off the throttle body. Just make sure when you put the CP onto the throttle body, the O-Ring is seated, you may have to push the CP up onto the TB then push down the C-Clip.

What everyone else said, stick with the C clip and don't forget to re-use stock o ring or use supplied depending on which charge pipe you have. ER uses OEM, VRSF supplies a new one ( o ring).

So I assume when you get a new charge pipe you dont need a new c-clip, if your existing one is still intact?

You would use your existing c-clip. Generally when someone "loses" their c-clip on a broken OEM CP it's because it fell into the undertray when the OEM one failed.
