OEM Amp replacement options
I'm not a big guy into sound and what not. So, I had a leak in my car (through the taillights), and fried my amp. My battery was swimming and water.
So, I'm thinking just getting an aftermarket amp (still a nice one), instead of dishing out to get the same amp for twice as much I'm sure. What options do I have when getting a new aftermarket direct replacement amp? Do I need to code or do anything other than just swapping it? Thanks PS I have the Harmon and Kardon

It all depends on what system you are starting with
It all depends on what system you are starting with.
There are three basic common systems. L7 or Top Hi Fi is hard to replace Hi Fi is easy. HK means L7 for most people . Because of the Fiberoptic connection its hard to replace without recoding to Hi Fi or buying a Mobridge DA-2 preamp. The DA-2 is the only thing that will read the BMW Fiberoptic signals and turn them into analog outputs. Also you have 9 channels to replace if you want to run all your speakers. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=641323 The following seems kind of popular now http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=999834 Last edited by ctuna; 10-31-2014 at 04:13 PM.. |
