Radar Detectors
Hi everyone,
This is not another post about which is a better radar detector, cuz I am sure this topic has been beat to the ground, and am sure anyone that owns one will say theres is the best one on the market. Now since thats cleared up, heres a little background about what I am looking for and the practicality of which I am gonna need it for. Twice I commute 175 miles one way from La to bakersfield, and then some, and travel on the 5,99 and 65. I only need it for driving on these highways and not for city driving or for the 405,101,110, etc. Only long straight roads. I have narrowed it down to the Valentine 1 with the Savvy, and an Escort product either the Max or Redline. I have done a lot of research and would like to know what practical uses you guys use your radar detectors. Personal experience on driving long highway and roads are much appreciated. Thank you |

I have been using the Valentine 1 for quite sometime now and I am very happy with what it has to offer. Laser/KA/K band detections are accurate and notifies you a great distance away.

within the choices you have narrowed down.. i'd go with redline... I really like my passport 9500ix and on that i always put it on highway. yes i get false alerts but only because it's been a couple of weeks and i'm still putting in all the locations where they have the automatic doors. but with redline.. and you being on the freeway.. the only interference you'll run into is the cheap radar's giving off their "readings?"
I know a ton of ppl that has switched from V1 to passport/beltronics, but thats just from my observational stand point... or just try it and if you dont like it return it, 30 day money back guarantee! |

Thank you guys for the responses! I may bite the bullet for the V1. Only cuz the laser sensitivity is better than the rest. But from what I know you're screwed either way when the radar goes off for the laser lol. Overall sensitivity is better which is what I am mostly looking for.

either one is great product. i love my V1 with conceal display mounted above the ashtray, V1 unit is mounted between 2 headrest on the deck and covered by a DIY E46 overhead unit cover. so from daytime the overhead unit is just look like an oem cover in the rear deck.

yup as long as you don't block the view, place it between the headrests, its works great!

Not sure where you are getting "laser sensitivity", as I'm not aware of any detector giving you enough warning from laser. You can slam on the brakes and shave off some speed when seeing laser, but in most cases it is too late, and jammer is the only option if you want real protection.

Most of the time, when the device does go off, it's usually too late, but from the testings I have reading, the V1 is the most sensitive when it comes to Ladar. The best protection is a jammer, but of course they are illegal in Cali |

I think v1 and passport max "laser sensitivity" are pretty much the same. If you are hit with laser its game over for you anyway. Get a jammer and stealth install it. I know of some people in cali who have had the jammer installed.

yes, it is true on the Ladar. when it beeps its too late. but just a safe insurance if they are still using Ka band on general use.
