Cabin Diesel/Burned Oil Smell - EGR Flex Pipe Crack?

I've been getting the smell of burning oil in the cabin and it's not my dpf differential pressure hoses (it was, but I already replaced them as one had cracked from the heat). Using a strong flash light I can see smoke at the front of the engine on the air filter side of the motor, I think it's the flex joint (accordion) for the EGR on that side, but I'm not sure.

Anyone else had this?

What are the steps to remove the EGR cooler? I need to pull it to inspect it as that's the only likely source I can think of.

Thanks!

Certainly could be the EGR cooler flex joint. See the "EGR block-off install" thread, the directions will be basically the same.

I had this problem. Still under warranty. I took it to the dealer. Given the location of the hoses and the heat generated nearby this is a common failure. Apparently it is an absolute nightmare to get access to the hoses. Car ran much better once fixed.

I believe you are referring to the differential pressure sensor hoses.
