Nannies
Perhaps I had missed this in some of the discussions or may be have not searched enough. But, I have noticed that when I turn off DSC (either partially or fully) car runs so much freer. With nannies on, it feels that car fights itself. I thought that perhaps this may have to do something with my tune (ecotune). May be more power/torque trips sensors in a different way.
Has anyone else noticed anything similar or can share their thoughts on the issue. Many Thanks. |

Pretty much what you said. I just added my Quaife TBD last weekend and it has eliminated that annoying traction control light that I'd see countless times in a day. Even worse is that engine cut-off annoyance that went along with that light.
Turning the nannies off pretty much does the same thing. And yes, the more power/torque did exacerbate the Christmas light effect for me. Good riddance. |

I'm still stock and I run with DSC fully off for the last 3500 miles. There is a difference in the way the car handles. You can feel the instability on a normal drive. The car banks more in a turn and the ass end wants to kick out more. The engine response seems to be faster in regular drive mode. Didn't notice much different in sport or manual.
Another benefit is that mileage has increased. The impression I get is that the car "feels" lighter and more responsive with DSC off. I drive with it off after almost being t-boned because of the nanny. nanny kicked in cuz of some loose stone on the road and decided to cut the power while I was half way in a left turn. I'd rather have wheel slippage than no power. It's gonna be fun in the winter getting out of my road and turning left onto a 5 lane highway. |
