Need advice asap on tire replacement

Hey Guys,

One of my winter tires needs temporary replacement while I wait for my new wheels and tires to come in. I have a 335xi coupe.

I have blizzaks on now with about 6/32 tread left. I need to replace the front passenger side tire. The current winter setup is square 225/40/18. In my garage I have my 189s on stock potenza summers.

I know you should not mix and match summer and winter but I have no spare tire. Would you put the summer 225/40/18 on the front or rear?

Im thinking front? Also is it a big deal if I drive on it for about 2 weeks (20 km a day) knowing that the tread wear is off compared to the winters and summers?

Let me know what you think. I called a tire shop and they will not mix and match summer and winter for obvious reasons but I just need something temporary until my new wheels come in.

Thanks

You shouldn't have any issues. Because it is still pretty warm in Vancouver, why not just swap your summers back on? It's an extra step, however it eliminates the question of where to place winter and summer tires?

If you have to, I would place the tires with more grip in the rear.

Tires with the best grip go on the rear. Definitely put the summer on the front.

Just be aware that the car will handle differently when you turn left and right.

You may be best off by swapping both front tires. The TireRack did a test awhile back with different combinations of summer and winter tires, the worst combo was left/right mix. You can google up the video.
