I would not use that. Buy a halford professional breaker bar and but a 17mm thin wall socket.

I use this on my aftermarket wheels

http://www.burgertuning.com/BMW_prot...el_socket.html

I don't know if they ship to UK. But it does work very well to protect the finish.

Brilliant. Ordered one.

Now what do you use to use this socket?

I use a breaker bar. Looks like this

I just keep it in the trunk. You'll need a 3/8" drive. I can't remember the length of mine, but it's either 18" or 20". You don't want to use a socket as you risk damaging the socket and it's not necessary. The breaker also comes in handy if you're working on your car and have a stubborn bolt.

Breaker bar as suggested to remove and then torque wrench to tighten.

Ebay
Breaker bar 311014673257
Torque wrench 331145985505
Thin walled socket 360643734637

These are the items i use and have done a fair bit of work with them. Obviously there are other options but generally get the bits along those lines

Torque wrench can take them off too

Just set it to highest setting and will get wheel bolts off no bother

Hazard Fraught sells a nice little set of wheel nut sockets

http://www.harborfreight.com/12-in-d...9781-9166.html

I've seen them under other names as well probably made in the same factory in Taiwan, so you may have something similar available locally.

+1 on a 18" long, 1/2" drive breaker bar and a 3" extension to make this work

if you are careful a 17mm regular old chrome 6 point 1/2" drive deep socket will work in place of the fancy specific sockets just fine.

Thanks. Saved these. I ordered some stuff and if they do not do the job, then they are going back and I am ordering these. I really liked thin walled socket.
Cheers.

The socket came out of a Halfrauds socket set & the shrink wrap tubing probably off eBay, slid it on & heated up - does the job and doesn't scratch

I just went and purchased the following today from the Bay.

The Blue Spot 24in breaker bar is going for a great price.
