I don't think you would be getting more than 5% difference unless it starts to affect valve seating and movement.
I found that the idle was smoother and the low down acceleration improved after I cleaned the intake ports. Couldn't tell you what gain there was from the dyno results as I had installed RB turbos at the same time. The last dyno result before was 250 rwkw and after was 297.7 rwkw. A majority of this gain would have resulted from the RB Turbos obviously.

I'm out for this group quote.

My water pump died yesterday, so it's in at Active this week to be fixed.

I'm getting the walnut blasting done while it's there.

HPFP: yes, will be a labour saving.

Water pump, t-stat: These are done from underneath so I doubt there are any labour saving. Perhaps just a discount from the mechanic for the extra work maybe...?

it's not the fact that it will save labour. It's something that should be done sooner than later so your car isn't off the road again at some point.

So if you can afford do a non essential maintenance job done for $500, you should really be able to afford to get those fixed at the same time.

One day when your water pump fails, you will kick yourself for not doing it at the same time

Edit:

oh wait...

Whilst i agree that preventative maintenance is a good thing and should be done before its too late, these Water Pumps seem to fail at random.

There are reports of them failing at 20k and some lasting 120k+.
Mine just failed at 70k.

I could change it every 50k to be safe so the car isnt off the road, but it still could fail before that and i'm just wasting money by essentially over-servicing.

Each to their own though. The possible reduction of the risk of having your car off the road for a couple of days might be worth this over-servicing to some people. For me I can easily live without my car for a couple of days, and my RACV roadside covered the towing. I don't feel that the reduction of risk is guaranteed enough to warrant changing the water pump when its working fine. Who knows, my new one might die in 6 months...

Just my 2c
