But I did search on here and like ska325xi said...after all of these years NO ONE has made a DIY for this. Well I guess when I get my kit in and do the install, I'll be taking pictures and doing a wirte up...

I was thinking of going with Turner next summer on this package. Will they do the install themselves? Normally I would do my own work, but I don't want to screw something like this up

I have sourced the parts and now am in the process of selecting the best "tune". I'm thinking Turner since they do the whole package thing too. Other suggestions?
Another question: when I received the 330i intake, it came with the DISA valves and the throttle body. I checked and the throttle body part number is different than my 325i. Does anyone know how it's different? Bigger mouth? Might it be better to use the 330i throttle body? Measured the 330i, it's 77mm dia. Last edited by smc325xi; 09-20-2013 at 11:20 AM.. |

So I got the swap done, with an AA tune. Also my thermostat and / or water pump went out so replaced those too. Boy am I glad to have this back together!
![]() Drives OK, but I'm getting a "ticking" noise from the top end. Doesn't sound like valve clatter. Any ideas? ![]() Could it be the injectors? |

Just did my IM swap:
My car: 2009 328i N52 Engine Source of IM: 2006 Z4 from LKQ through car-parts.com for $158 shipped. Additional Purchases: 6 ring of intake manifold gaskets and a throttle body gasket about $30 Labor: 1 hour research and read-through the DIY here + 2 hours of actual replacement time. This is a direct plug-n-play for my car, no problems with oil return line piping whatsoever, gotta love German Engineering. Result: Feels normal on the low end, couldn't tell much gain or loss at midrange, but high end rpms can definitely feel the difference, with the non-variable intake, power would plummet after 6k revs, with 3-stage, did feel power all the way till 7k. For under 200 bucks and 3 hours of work, it's definitely worth it. |

NorthernCafe, it's not difficult to get the right part, when I sourced the intake manifold through car-parts, I went through by filtering for 2006-2008 X3, X5, 330, Z4, etc for the manifold, then when I actually start calling the dealers to order it, I asked them to give me the OEM intake manifold part number, if it matches 11617559523 then you got her!
Seller posted 200 bucks for sale, when i called, he's offered $180 shipped, I acted dumb and low-balled it to $!58 shipped, that's about 40 bucks savings where I can get the gaskets etc. For $200 bucks and can get some real horses for a single mod, it's way worth the trouble. |

Sounds impossible to not doing this mod! ![]() I have a 2009 E90 LCI N52 engine and when I check my IM components, My car has the 1167559525 manifold so I can change to the 3 stage manifold. The actuator also listed in the part list from realoem so does it mean I can re-use the actuator or my car actually does not have them so I need to order them to complete the shopping list? |

If you are planning to but it from dealership or other legit stores, you'll need to buy those actuators separately until you complete the set. Some performance stores may sell them as a kit, that cost is too high, that's why I went junkyard searching. |

additionally, if you buy the manifold used, and it comes with the adjusters, you can test them (valve opens and closes) before actually installing them. save the money and get a tune or a set of headers. ![]() |

Guys,
We did the swap on the E-92 Race Car, and used the VR I-Flash tune that is totally customized and can be updated for your various "bolt on" power and performance modifications. I know a lot of guys use the scrap yard parts to save money, and I am cool with that. Here is the list and discounted prices of the complete parts needed to duplicate the Dual Disa in your N-52 directly from the BMW parts lead up here. I've not included his name for privacy. Cut and paste message follows: Hi Tom, No you do not need to flash the ECM, however: It looks like you are going from a zero DISA to a dual DISA valve system – if so This will fault and throw engine codes, for which at a dealer level we cannot clear or reprogram the vehicle to know it has been changed (no provision within BMW coding software). You will need an aftermarket software program to do so, I assume your guys have that ability. Below is your adjusted pricing: E90 330i N52B30H0 intake manifold (new), 11617559523 $696.00 throttle body seal ring, 13547522361 $16.15 DISA valve (large), 11617579114 $384.00 DISA valve (small), 11617560538 $384.00 DISA valve mounting screws $1.75 each (qty. req. 6) intake manifold profile gaskets, 11617547242 $34.00 All parts are 1 day away. Yes I searched, but maybe I did miss something.
I'm preparing for this swap and since I don't have a second car nor transportation to bmw dealership nor guarantee that they would have part in stock, I rather be over prepared and end up returning things, so... Quite frequently on swap threads (including pelican parts instructions) they mentioned how one particular pipe is very fragile and breaks 9/10 times. My question is what is the part number (name or description) of pipe which breaks during replacement? Thanks |

If anyone is looking for a brand new crank case hose I am selling one on eBay for like $20 something... And I will ship in the use. Just never needed it and surely paid quite a bit more.

Maybe Canadian specd cars are different or I am lucky. But, I drove for months with the 3IM and OE engine management software and never had a code.
