A6D1 Auxiliary Waterpump Code

I got the A6D1 code related to auxiliary waterpump numerous times.

Date: 12.10.2014 11:23:58
ECU: JBBF70
JobStatus: OKAY
Variant: JBBF70
-------------------------------------------------------------

RESULT: 1 error in error memory !
-------------------------------------------------------------

A6D1 auxiliary waterpump

Error counter: 94
Logistic counter: 40

Mileage 145168 km
Speed 49.70 km/h
Battery Voltage 14.15 volt

Signal or value below threshold
Test conditions fulfilled
Error present now and already stored
Error would not cause a warning lamp to light up

Error code: A6 D1 62 00 5E 28 46 E2 01 F1 01 FE
================================================== ===========

I cleared the code numerous times and it kept coming back. A visit to the dealer and diagnostic was the aux water pump. Got it replaced under warranty. A few days later I checked again and no more codes!

Just thought I'd share since I couldn't find much information when looking for this code...

You must have a 2009 with Rest heat. Believe in the 2010s and 2011s they did away with that feature.

I was able to code that feature in on my 2011. May be a further search on realoem is due to figure out if there was a physical difference like that.

That is correct. Car is a 2009 335d that has the Rest button.

What's the "REST" button?
I have a 2010. I've had this over a year. After clearing it, it always comes back.

Don't we have a PTC heater to function as an auxiliary heater?

Sure but that has nothing to do with heat at rest

Ok, you are inspiring me to go code my rest button and see if it works. I dis not see differences between 09 to 11 cars' cooling/heating systems when I looked at realoem.

Definitely different.

Im sure rest would kinda work in 10-11 cars but only to the extent there is warm coolant in the path of airflow. In other words for like 3minuted.

Verification on realoem: additional water pump appears in both diagrams (2009 and 2010 that I checked) but the part is only listed for a 2009 model. For the 2010 model the additional water pump is not listed in the parts list although it appears on the "Additional water pump/Water hose" diagram.

Unfortunately, REALOEM is not 100% accurate/up to date for US 335d, from my understanding.
