Help needed - Honeymoon in Maui!

Hi Guys

Apologies for posting in here but there's not a Hawaii off-topic section!

My fiancee and I are planning to come to Maui for our honeymoon. We're getting married in November 2014 but are going to wait for a few months and then fly out to Hawaii (around March 2015 time).

Can any of you guys advise on the best area to stay? We're both 30, love great food/restaurants/bars.

We want a relaxing stay but don't want to be stuck in a golf resort and do want a buzzing area with nice bars/restaurants close by.

Would really appreciate your help and if any of you have contacts would really appreciate it!

Thanks again,

Suraj

I'm not the best source for Maui, but I would stay near Lahaina, at the resorts a bit to the north of it, look on google I think there is a hyatt regency there. That way you could have the relaxing resort atmosphere but go into Lahaina for your restaurants and nightlife. You could take a cab or walk it's not far. That side of the island has nice beaches and coves.

Why not oahu? We definately have a lot more to choose from whether its restaurants or malls. Unless you want more beaches and less ppl then maui would be better.

My parents have been living in maui for about 4 years and having been going over there multiple times a year for long periods I can say that lahaina west side maui is where you should stay. It's a great spot for tourists and front street is nice and awesome at night. I'll be moving over there in a few weeks to the napili area a little past lahaina

All the resorts are nice, I would prefer the Westin hotel or if you can stay at the Westin timeshare resort close by to it. Both have great service and atmosphere with great restaraunts

I would not stay at the Hyatt in Kaanapali right now. They are building their villas or something right next door and they do start pretty early in the morning. The driveway and parking is a rat nest right now. And I highly doubt they will be finished by March 2015.

The Westin Villas and Honua Kai are great options. If you are renting a car they are a both ~5 min drive to bars and nice beaches.
Just be prepared, the last few years during March has been on the rainy side.
